What's new

Three-month imprisonment for eating, smoking in public places under Ehtram-e-Ramzan Ordinance

Calm down chaudhry.

Others' eating around me while I am fasting is hardly a matter of respect or disrespect ......... what matters more is my steadfastness, patience and restraint. I don't even see any element of disrespect in there? How someone eating is disrespect to me? Why should I be bothered?

The point I am trying to make is that If someone did want to eat, they wouldn't do it in your face. Otherwise, they would be antagonizing people.

It does happen have seen myself.

With population boom and widespread hatred and confusion you may face an ignorant soul who doesn't even know its supposed to be disrespectful to eat (I have met such people)............ should we be punishing him for his ignorance? I think no.

. .
and why are people getting antagonize at such trivial things in the first do they not have bit of restraint left in them anymore

It's similar to me coming to your brother's janaza and playing party music. People will think that you are trying to piss them off on purpose.

people in Pakistan get pissed at mere sight of an ahmedi(see hafiz center every shop has a sticker on it that entrance of ahmedis isn't allowed) what else do you expect from them.
instead of putting out the fire of hate in public. government is adding more fuel to it by passing such ordinance.
about that brother part i would be so grief stricken to care about your music and the max i would do is to request you stop it. not start kicking you at my brothers funeral. that act will be far far more disrespecting to him than your music.

Feel free to remain indoors all day.
By the way, Ramzan teaches us patience, tolerance and self control. Then why is everyone crying about all of this? If you can't even control yourself when somebody eats in front of you, what's the use of the fast that you're keeping? Food for thought (no pun intended).

it is a precautionary measure against the vigilantes.
jesi awaam hogi wese hi qanoon mussalat kiye jaenge na

No , You might be thinking this law is passed with the same intention as the blasphemy law. Basically as a deterrent to avoid vigilante behaviour by the people. But in reality the effect of this will be completely different. Before when someone ate in public they used to get scowled at or maybe given a remark or two, now people will have a reason to take this behaviour one step further because now even the law tolerates this behaviour.

I agree.
But the govt. has to take into account everything that goes on in the society.
Laws are therefore for deterrence and misuse is more due to corruption.
The more intolerant the society the more strict the laws would be.

Although in practice such laws are not needed and this is more of a result of hue and cry from the 'emotions brigade'.
