Your input is much appreciated, Kaan. I have updated the list with this information. Nice pun, by the way.

That's what this issue has defaulted to. Unfortunately, with approximately 50 think tank analysts that I've identified so far, it will take some time to identify each TTA's area of expertise. In the real world, one has an internal directory to at least list in which department each employee sits, or which sector an analyst covers. For defence.pk, it's left to guesswork. That diminishes the usefulness of the TTA as a source to reach out to when input would be helpful, since we don't know whom to contact about what.
if you stay here for a while you will get the hang of it. Now I cannot talk for others but I think i was promoted to TTA for Neutral Discourse (Most of the time),
Apart from that my professional expertise is in Non- linear Structural analysis, Cfrp testing and analysis, General manufacturing engineering for Wing Assm and main landing gear units for Russian origin figher aircrafts, High speed data acquisition systems, Dynamic response system, etc.
My general interest is small arms system, I am shooting enthusiast and I am frequent visitor and contribute on the guns corner.

If you truly believe that, then you should agree that those TTAs who have not risen above trolling, who serially post useless invective, who have not contributed useful content, and in general, have not performed to a higher standard should be demoted back to regular user status. If you agree, then a public list of TTAs and their areas of contribution is not unreasonable. If you disagree, please explain the purpose of the TTA designation.

That does happen sporadically.

I was wondering where you got this list from.

My Google-fu is strong.

Would it be appropriate for me to designate your expertise as aeronautics and small arms? I'm afraid I'm out of my depth with the technical terminology you've used.

Sure but I think the right way to do this might be for @Oscar, @WebMaster and @Aeronaut to compile list of resources for and add it to a announcement thread.

It's okay, the Indians are feeling left out. We can't really go down to their level and argue.

Well; guy like you are'nt UP anywhere at any level to start with........
Unless you assume that you're "up in the clouds"?

I must say that I am rather impressed with @LeveragedBuyout ability to perform an internal audit , for lack of a better word, on the specialists of this forum. Its been less than a month since I joined this forum and I've already realized that there are members who contribute quality information ranging from a host of topics: economics, military , politics, social reform, and the like. I've met some very solid historians in here as well as per the activity and threads in the Military History section of PDF. Its great to be in cahoots with an eclectic, learned bunch of individuals.

Thank you for your support. If you are able, I would appreciate any recommendations (that is, if you identify any of the TTAs in particular with economics, politics, social reform, military history, etc.) to help me complete the table.

We are not talking here about anything that carries a liability and requires certification.

All we are doing is exchanging opinions, mostly about subjective issues like politics, history and the economy (highly technical discussion excepted). And I don't give two hoots about some guy who has an (alleged) degree on the subject. Because I know very well how academic degrees are attained. It doesn't mean they are worthless, but they need to be backed up by actual performance.

I have worked with 24 year olds who were some of the smartest people I knew. And I have worked with 40 year olds with Ivy League degrees who couldn't think their way out of a paper bag.

Do you know Stanford Business School? It is one of the top, if not the top, business school in the US. They are famous for rejecting straight-A valedictorian applicants, and giving admission to some guy who ran his own business for ten years, or a housewife who ran a home-business for several years.

A piece of paper is only ONE criterion for judging the validity of someone's opinion. The lazy readers relies on a piece of paper to tell him what to believe. The smart reader uses his own brain to differentiate junk from wisdom.

Hi,

See---when you start seeing red in front of your eyes---you stop thinking--. We just want to know TT background---your job---your experience---basically what we want to know is are you a professional or a young kid---.

You may discuss whatever you want to---but when you are sitting on a pedastal---don't be shy---tell us who you are. Why the embarassment---what's to hide.

It's better to remove the "titles" altogether. It makes no difference anyway.
The quality, language, attitude of the comment speaks of the member it self.

Hi,

For a military pro to say that is really strange----all your life you lived the Disciplined heirarchy of the Rank & suddenly it means nothing.

We have no interest in this at this point, i will probably add something in the future where you can drill down the membership and check their area of expertise.

Webby,

Why would you not have all the members have a little introduction about themselves!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, but based on the responses so far, the staff seems disinclined to do so.

That is quite true. As for the "blessed and anointed souls" themselves, i.e. the guys with 'labels' pasted on them; they seem to be quite a motley bunch.......ranging from Excellent to Middling to purely Amusing. As one can discern from the quality of the verbiage that they can generate here.
As for the set(s) of qualifications that they may possess to achieve their exalted positions; there is a particularly South Asian cultural phenomenon, variously described as "sifarishi" or "chacha-bhatija" syndrome. Maybe @MastanKhan can explain that better......
