The Russian-Pakistani $10 Billion Pipeline Will Promote Eurasian Integration

.
[QUOTE="nahtanbob, post: 10859984, member: 191633" It is cheaper to load LNG on ships and send them[/QUOTE]

It was, but not now. Today, India's LNG costs ~$11 as compared to last years ~$7.5, and the year before ~$5.9, price of LNG that India imports varies from 13.3 to 13.9% of Brent oil depending on the suppliers and contracts.

A consortium led by SAGE, is conducting FEED for this Iran to India and another pipeline from Oman, so some quarters in India are also interested in this pipeline.

Bari jabardast planning hai.

Ask Hindustani Sarkar who is dreaming even more absurd pipeline from Iran to Oman and Oman to all the way to Hindustan supposedly bypassing Pakistan's EEZ

It does not matter who operates the field in Iran. The pipeline goes over Iranian territory. Iran is not known to give others permission to operate pipelines on their soil.

Why build submarine pipeline when you can build one over land ? That is a lot cheaper. It is not like Russia or Pakistan are flush with cash.

If the objective is to make money setup a LNG terminal on the Iranian coast buyers will automatically come

You clearly not that much bright, why Iran will have the problem when their gas is being sold. As far as undersea pipeline is concerned ask your Russian friends, why will have any problem if they want to conduct feasibility study or even build it as long as we get gas on competitive rates?

a pipeline is not going to reduce that price

This is not our project, It's Russian initiative. Even if it's cleared in feasibility study and goes ahead the $10b aren't coming to Pakistan as it's Russian company who will be building it and it will be her property, we are customer here and will be ready to buy gas if provided. So, it goes ahead or not don't have any significant impact for Pakistan. But Hindustan building pipeline in deep blue sea to bypass Pakistan is surely a pipe dream.

Associated Chambers of Commerce of India, disagrees.

"The Associated Chambers of Commerce of India (Assocham India) has released the results of its study on “a trans-national deep water gas pipeline from Iran, passing through Oman but by-passing Pakistan,” it said.

"Releasing a study on the Iran-India gas pipeline, former oil secretary T N R Rao said natural gas imported through the over $4 billion line would cost $5-5.50 per million British thermal unit at the Indian coast, cheaper than the rate at which some of the domestic fields supply gas.

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) imported through ships costs about $7.50 per mmBtu."

There is no connection between the deal mentioned in the article and the Assocham India study

the whole project is not feasible. there are too many moving parts to make this deal work

It would be a Russia-Iran-Pakistan-India pipeline.

Hint: Russia and Iran have come to an agreement on Caspian sea.

. .
after s400 deal i dont see how its feasible for pakistan......the way i see its a deal b/w two strategic partners Russia-India.....Pakistan is just ''used'' as a transit for their own good!

Russia a 140 million people's country itself need to understand that Pakistan is herself the 5th largest country of the world, its not the ladder to its success, but is herself a market that can give her success.

If you have read the study, you will know that the study comprise of two start points;

An abstract from the study;

"Chabahar port or Kuh-e-Mubarak would serve as point of origin to proposed 1300 Km
long Iran-Oman-India pipeline to transport natural gas. The Oman-Iran-India pipeline or
Middle-East to India deep-water natural gas pipeline (MEIDP) may have two potential
start points - at Ras al Jafan in Oman and Chabahar in Iran. The 1300 km long deepwater
pipeline may terminate near Porbandar in Gujarat. It can then be connected to
India’s national gas grid."

And a map for the proposed pipeline(s) in the study;

that is all fine if the Russians sign a deal with India

That is exactly what Russian's are working at now. They waited a year (from 2017 to 2018) for Pakistan's election and a new government before they signed this MOU, I think they will do the same with India, wait out the elections and sign a similar deal with next government.
