He's gone native:lol:.

bwahahahaha! all he needs now is a glass of wine...voila !!

I think cardio is really important if you want to build stamina, i can last a long long time without stopping (on sprints, that is, lol!). Its also great for metabolism bro, plus the feel i get when i do a 40 minute elliptical session is exhilarating. Try joining a cycle group with some of folks at the gymn --- its a great way of maintaining a healthy workout lifestyle outside. For example i started cycling with 2 guys who i met at the gym , we usually meet up at a bike trail close to my neighborhood on weekends, and we cycle together for 12 miles one way. 12 miles back.

Its great when you have someone to work out with --- it builds the competitive drive and plus, make new friends ...LOL !!

There are better ways to build endurance than jogging or cycling; try doing 15-20 sets of 100 meter sprints....you'd be exhausted. Try cranking out 100 plyometric push ups you'd feel like your arms are bursting with lactic acid....try doing 200 jump squats and you'd really be drained.

Likewise go for a swim...it works the whole body; I bet anyone who can do a couple of olympic sized lengths of butterflys has both endurance and strength in abundance.

I don't want to bulk them up too much. The quads, sure, but i don't want to get massive calves, lol.

:)

You are doing it all wrong ! :argh:

Squat, Bench Press, Overhead Press, Deadlifts, Weighted Pull Ups and Barbell Rows should be your staple - Not the machines ! :tsk:

And you won't bulk up too much if you don't increase your weight.....do some Squating and you'd be fine. Just look at those Olympic lifters who deal Power Cleans - Do they look bulked up or do they look chiseled to the core ? :)

Ah interesting. Is that what you do , buddy ?

Somewhat....I used to lift a lot but I injured my back and my knees due to bad form ! :(

Then I switched over to bodyweight exercises and sprinting - I've never felt lighter ! :)

But these days (for the past few months or so) I haven't exercised much because I injured myself while playing football !

I'll have to try to do more squats then. Right now i'm doing calf raisers but i stay in the 130 lb range, the guys who i work out with do like 150 lbs + , and their calves are huge. I've started doing leg raisers as well since it helps build the sartorious muscle and the quads. Leg raisers i'm doing 150 lbs.

Is there really a difference in results when you use machines vs the deadlifts , squats ? Never really asked before.

Oh man, sorry to hear that bro. Well, best way to heal is to do light walks, light jog. Have you been doing some exercises recently ? Do morning exercises, stretches, buddy. It does help.

Helluva difference; for one using free-weights like barbells builds functional strength and it also works your stabilizing muscles unlike machines where the weight is stabilized for you !

And most of those guys may have such huge calves for quite the same reason most guys have bloated bosoms instead of a proper manly chest because they'd do 4-5 different types of isolation chest exercises for them - Don't do that....find a compound exercise that builds functional strength like the bench press and increase your weight on it !

Google in 'Stronglifts.com' and go through their program - It worked well for me...maybe it works for you too !

No nothing ! :(

Just the occasional walk and stretches...have put on some weight because of the lack of exercise, in fact ! :argh:

Its fine, just start doing walks, even if its not jogging, so long as you walk long distances; 1 mile or so. And work out the metabolism.

Hey, its fine if you gain weight, you had a sports injury so its okay. You're excused, haha! ;)
