THE DANGERS OF IGNORING THE NAVY

.
OUR Navy has been ignored for decades. the fact that we still believe that defense of Pakistan lies with JUST THE ARMY is a foolish thought!

We need to buy at least 10 u boats. and at least 8 missile boats.

We cannot or DO NOT need to project power through our Navy. We just need them to keep the enemy outside our territorial waters.

Our model should be similar to Taiwan Navy. or German U boat operations in world war 1

Denial of enemy ships into our territorial waters rather than try to match them in open seas.

.
PN and PAF both are in need to a budget increase ASAP!!!

Cut the budget of PA.

Rest as per my opinion we will Block you guys and if Iran remains neutral in future war between India & Pakistan ; Pakistan Supply route from Middle East will be cute ... Third thanks to Kargil war we have new corps that can be used to cut off CPEC .

PS - i doubt Middle East help after your neutral behaviour towards them .

. .
Yes but navy should consider destroyers rather than same class mental block we are the nation who have imminent threat from 3 times bigger enemy countries who dont have any sea threat yet they have state of the art naval surface fleet along with underwater fleet

While we can argue that yes we don't have like 1000 ships or 500 ships at least the NAVY is slightly better compared to our standing in 1999

2 More F22P frigates on the way just like that

Karachi Shipyard will produce two more F-22P frigates for the Pakistan Navy, bringing the total number to six. The yard is currently building a fast attack craft for the Navy, as well as a wide variety of other vessels and equipment.

The first F-22P or Zulfiquar class multi-purpose frigate was commissioned in September 2009. The Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group, China State Shipbuilding Company, the China Shipbuilding and Trading Company and Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW) are all involved in the production of the vessels.

The first three frigates were built in China at the Hudong-Zhonghau Shipyard, while the last vessel was built by Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works. This vessel is currently undergoing sea trials and is scheduled to be delivered in April next year.

The class carry Harbin Z-9 helicopters and are armed with a 76 mm gun, 30 mm Type 730B close-in weapons systems, FM-90N surface-to-air missiles, C-802 surface-to-surface missiles, ET-52C torpedoes and RDC-32 anti-submarine rockets.

The F-22P project resulted in a major modernisation of KSEW in terms of machines and infrastructure, with extensive upgrades taking place in 2008 and 2009. These upgrades included installing new gantry and lifting cranes as well as manufacturing equipment.

KSEW has two main projects underway for the Pakistan Navy: the F-22P frigates and Azmat class fast attack craft (FAC). The 560 ton fast attack craft feature surface-to-surface missiles, are 60 metres long, have a range of 1 000 nautical miles and a top speed of 30 knots. The first, PNS Azmat, was built in China by Xingang Shipyard and entered Pakistan Navy service in June this year while the second FAC, PNS Dehshat, was launched in August at KSEW. The vessels are built in collaboration with China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation under a technology transfer agreement.

KSEW in roughly a month’s time will cut steel on a training vessel for the Pakistan Navy, similar to the fast attack craft. The yard is building a pusher tug for the Pakistan Navy, which should be delivered by the end of next year. It is expecting an order from the Pakistan Navy for a 15-18 000 ton fleet tanker. China and Turkey are a couple of the bidders for this project, but the vessel itself will be built in Karachi.

KSEW is also building more than half a dozen aluminium boats for the Pakistan Army.

KSEW has three core business areas: building military and civil vessels, ship repair and heavy engineering. It builds vessels for all of Pakistan’s port authorities, and in 2011 delivered two barges, two pusher tugs and a dredge tender to Karachi’s Port Trust. Since inception in the 1950s the yard has built around 440 different vessels and is equipped to build vessels up to 26 000 tons (this limit is imposed by dock size), such as naval vessels, tugs, dredgers, hopper barges, ferries, trawlers and launches.

Pakistan needs a 300 km radius from karachi to be free of IN activity. This is the range of the brahmos which actually poses the maximum power projection threat to PN.In 1971 PN suffered because they found themselves defenceless against Styx missiles, they are again setting themselves up for being defenceless against brahmos. While submarines will remain the main denial weapon, concentrating solely on submarines is imo a mistake,as fleet is totally one dimensional and predictable to IN with the newer Kamortas/talwars coming with ACTAS sonars from germany. These are currently probably best in the world for submarine detection in shallow waters and can crucially detect them beyond the range of submarines's heavyweight torpedo(50 km). Also the bulk of IN western fleet has begun to move out of congested Mumbai harbour and into faraway Karwar(now main base) in south india making submarines ability bottle up part of the fleet there almost impossible.
Around 8 Submarines must be combined with an efficient air defence ship(around 2-4) with modern sea skimmer interceptor missile. This combined with missile attack boats(~8-10)/Coastal ASCMs/Land based maritime attack aircraft (2 sq)and Land based SAM umbrella( FT-2000 battery) will be enough deterrent. But air defence ship is must.Without it whole surface fleet and billions of dollars worth of commercial assets in karachi harbour, oil tanks etc are compromised.
I would say just 2-3 FREMM multipurpose frigates with aster would be better for PN than 6 type 054.If morocco and egypt can get 1,i think pakistan can squeeze atleast a couple in if funds are diverted to navy).

I think FREMM class would be fantastic power addition to PN as aster missile can confidently counter Brahmos and also has area defence capability(120km).

.
The PN just needs to secure 4 (ideally 6) 4000 ton multi mission frigates housing 32 cell VLS with 40-50km range SAM. The F-22P is a good ASW system, but proper AAW is a must.

This is news from Nov. 2012. Can you please check the source and timing of news before posting. If done inadvertantly, it is indicative of laziness and carelessness and if the other then blatant misinformation and deceit.
