What's new

The CZ-9 rocket is now under the development

Look NASA gave up , it could have landed and built a base on Moon during 1980's but it did not do that

The rover missions were great but , so limited there are moons around Saturn or Jupiter we could have sent something where there is geological activity but , again no ambition

The Trillion dollar , wasted in Afghanistan , could have may be created

a) Base on Moon
b) A permanent floating base around moon
c) A refueling area in space, solar energy collector
d) Base around Mars
e) Solar energy collector around mars
f) Saturn 6 new Rocket, based off Saturn 5
g) Mini power plant on moon

Instead we have APC and trucks created which are rotting around Afghanistan

The permanent Moon base could serve as a bridge to colonize the Mars.

The NASA has made a grave strategic mistake by abandoning the Saturn rocket and shifted its focus on the space shuttle.

NASA gave up? You never heard of the new Space Launch System? Unless you know how to send people to Mars safely for many months and get them off the surface of Mars, rovers is the way to go.

China was developing a new 120ton LOX/ Kerosene LRE, is it OKay for CZ-9's 200tons LEO (with many 120ton new LREs)?]

Do you know when the CZ-9 is slated for its first flight? Our SLS is scheduled for 2017-18 (its Dragon Capsule is being tested on December 4th, 2014 for the first time... very excited about this), when can we expect China to join the party?

CZ-9 launch time, we don't know yet ... all information from China official news is sub-systems of CZ-9 going well now, maybe not a long time for the maiden flight, but here no detail date.

Probably a bit later than the SLS, maybe the maiden flight around 2020.

By judging they are already starting to prepare its casting parts and designing its truss structure, I think 5-6 years from now is needed.

BTW, we are not USSR, so we won't rush our planned schedule just for the arm race with the US. The safety is always our first priority, we rather have a bit delay than prematurely proceed our schedule.

Also, is there a problem with China's metallurgy (not mature enough... maybe)? Or is there another reason for a 10 meter diameter instead of the 8.4 of the SLS?

I think they are sticking with the more traditional truss structure for the CZ-9.

Yeah, the SLS is actually skinnier than the Saturn V, so good for the US with this new truss design.

It is only a matter of time and money.

Yes indeed. :-)
Not only for the Moon base but also bigger and more sophisticated capsules can be ferried to our Space Station by 2020 which is a big challenge
