They are not at ease with Marathis or Gujaratis either. Within their community they are insular ( which is natural) . Outside their community they seek an English speaking Western oriented gentleman base. Parsis prefer to speak in English and their literary contribution has been solely in the English language ( Bapsy Sidhwa etc.). You will never see a Parsi attending a Bhavai Gujarati Theatre event or a Marathi Lavni performance ( both of which have Muslim exponents). Parsis used to have a sub-culture theater of their own which has diminished.
They yearn for a secular Koi hai Brown Saheb space which has vanished, The Parsis found this space in the united Indian Armed forces and they batted on both sides. So Lt. Col. Tarapore served initially with the Nizam ( Muslim ) forces and Sam Manekshaw served with the old British Raj Army.But even here they are dwindling lot.
The last Parsi to make it to the top of India's armed forces wing was Air Chief Marshal Fali Major. Few Parsis join the armed forces anymore.
