Tata Motors' to launch Nano car in Bangladesh

They overlook the looks of the car because they do not have much choices. However, you will find that the well off indians does differentiate the looks of the car

I was talking about average middle class Indians buying car for the first time, for whom mileage triumphs over all others.

Apart from the safety issue, Nano is too small and too light for BD's badly maintained roads. Nano or any other small cars will do better if their producers consider a larger diameter wheels. Small wheels are not comfortable in BD roads. However, I liked the small car photo sent by Al-Zakir in post #8. Note the wheels are quite large. By the way, who is this beautiful lady driving in europe? Is she Al-zakir's ----?

Lol I would be surprised if she is Mrs. Al Zakir... to me she should be a lady/woman wearing burkha with hijab if not with niqab...:P... Though thats my wild imagination.

Well that was what i meant in my post. Average indian does not have much choices of cars and since the cst of fuel is rising, they tend to go for the mileage. But as you become richer you tend to differentiate cars by the looks

Are you nuts? No much choice for cars in India today? Please just read the 'Made in India Vehicles' thread in this forum.
Infact, the problem is of too much choice. A new model is launched in India almost every fortnight. Almost all leading global car brands have manufacturing in India.

India has a lot of different cars in their market, no doubt about that. However, i meant that the salary of an average indian does not allow him to have many choices of cars.

For example, India may sell ford, toyota, GM, tata cars. However, due to the income of an average indian, his choice may be only limited to tata and GM

Maruti Suzuki is still the number one car manufacturer in India for nothing, closely followed by Hyundai.

Thats the Smart car, heaps expensive and out of reach of average Indian or Bangladeshi. You could buy about 10 Tata Nanos for the price of a Smart Car, if not more

Agreed the wheels are small, but thats just for cost cutting. Its not that difficult to slap some bigger wheels on.

Tata is planning to launch this model of Nano in Europe. Will cost about 6000 USD, still about 1/3rd the price of a Smart Car(which mind you can only seat two people, unlike nano).

But exporting the Tata Nanos to countries like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka defeats the purpose behind this car. Because the costs shoot up due to the import taxes and then its just not worth it. If they start assembling these cars in Bangladesh, cost would come down to around 300,000 Takkas which is atleast half of what they are going to sell for now. Then I reckon, they ll be able to sell some Naons in Bangladesh. I don't see much hope otherwise.

Tata Nano can travel in badly maintained roads filled with potholes due to incessent monsoons..in Kerala(India). I've seen Enough Nano's in this part.

Nanos would not make it through the first year. Dhakas pot holes are known to take down 5 ton truck axels.
