Yes, thanks to the assembling plant of a Japanese company and its technology. As far as I understand Suzuki does not manufacture even a small body part in India. It brings in all and assemble them. Now, you are telling, it is India made. But, can we tell Mitsubishi Pajero is made in BD?

That is all you can do. Be silent about it. While be go about serving your market, doing business. You are making fun a company who has more than 150 Billions $ in market cap and even in India is regarded high for its market ethics and values.

We need car manufacturing plant in Bangladesh.Even if it TATA. I can't remember any other country in world with over 100 million people who don't have car manufacturing plant. Tiny Slovakia(pop. 5 million) with just 89 billion dollar GDP is producing 1 million car every year. We are now begger in this front. We should not be choosy.

Motor vehicle industry is a crucial part of industrialization for any country. We can't expect to become industrial economy continuing to ignoring this crucial component.So I welcome this move on part of TATA.
You are right brother but we need company like Toyota , Mitsubishi or at least Hyundai for car productions.A car is an asset and I will buy a car which has a good re sell value. Indian cars are not reliable .

Funny, the dumping ground for used Japanese cars are talking about quality.
Those used Japanese cars have more value than your brand new Indian cars in the market . So what is your point ?

Those companies will not invest here unless our market grow to a respectable size.And here is the dilemma, how you will boost the car sale in our country when a tiny percentage of our middle and upper class are hooked to the over taxed, over priced, 2nd hand Car from Japan? At first you have to make the car truly a commodity for the 'Volks'. Then they will be interested to explore this market.Only 20k-30k car sale, that to 2nd hand imported do not give any positive signal to those car manufacturing giant.Here TATA can help us to take off our buying power by introducing cheap, locally made car.

The growing middle class of Dhaka desires a car. You cant deny them!
Exactly, middle class in BD is no different than any other country. They also yearn for a private car. Ideally our car sale should be 8-10 times higher than present level given the size of our economy.But it is artificially depressed by high cost related to long distance import plus 175 percent import duty. If TATA or any other company start producing here, then people will be able buy car manufactured using local cheap labor and just 55 percent tax.Car price will come down to 1/3rd of present level.Currently people are buying a reconditioned Japanese car by paying 16 lakh to 24 lakh taka. Imagine what will happen when they can buy new car with just 6-8 lakh Taka! Sale will skyrocket 10 times within a short period. Then a much, much bigger segment of middle class people will be able to afford a car with their income.

I think growth of car market will have to follow establishment and smooth functioning of BRT and Metro and simultaneous phasing out of autos and rickshaws on even side streets. Otherwise chaos level might increase.

My God this report is HUGE and detailed! Please be considerate and download the report locally to your laptop before reading the PDF file. Lot of great nuggets of information in there, and I am very impressed how much was considered and looked at (efficient traffic flows using modern 21st century modes of transport).

The experts formulated the plan under the auspices of JICA and the projection and scope covers 2015 to 2035.

Highly credible.

It has been prepared with the full participation and input of Japan's JICA. Most of the funding will come from JICA.

The total cost will be 40 billion US dollars and this will include 5 metro lines(first line is being built now), 6 massive elevated expressways(1 being built now), 3 circular ring roads and thousands of kms of roads in and around Dhaka.

It is not an understatement to say that Dhaka will have near world-class transport infrastructure by 2035. The other important part of the plan is that it builds infrastructure for cross-BD travel and this will allow people to travel from say Sylhet to Chittagong without going into Dhaka at all.

It is unwise to talk about economy when Dhaka roads are unfit for driving a car. The country has only 420,384 cars by a 2017 estimate. GoB collects heavy taxes from foreign import to keep the number in check. So, ask the govt. to upgrade the road system before people can buy cars. Except personal car parking, there is almost no parking spaces in Dhaka. A more number of cars is certainly not welcome at this stage. BD should build the necessary infrastructure to accommodate more number of cars.

Infrastructure for car is coming. Main problem is too many commuter are in the street in Bus, rickshaw, minibus clogging the road.Ideally bulk of these non driving commuter should be on metro rail or metro bus.If you can nullify the need of 80 percent rickshaw, bus, minibus from the city road then a lot of space will be available for the car.And build couple of ring road, elevated expressway, overpass,underpass, diversion road, car handling capacity of Dhaka will increase many folds. Those mere 420k car looks overwhelming only because car has no velocity in this city.They are stuck in the road most of the time jostling with rickshaw and bus for a little space .Make them run at 80 km per hour in signal free condition without rickshaw and bus jam, those 420k car will look nothing.

There are exclusively no private cars outside of Dhaka. Roads are coming but we need affordable cars too for those roads.
We dont want to be import dependant when the push comes. TATA is a very good start.

The video is for a sales promotion of Suzuki Baleno. I have not seen one such India made car in Japan. We will hear it if the made in India car is accepted by the Japanese. Do not expect too much. But, wish for good luck.
