- same as T-54 (second version).

T-62 - same as T-55 only turret front increased to 242 mm.

From now on only turret front and glacis are changed:

T-64 and T-64A till 1974:


Glacis - 206 mm composite (80 mm steel - 106 mm CEM (composite epoxy material) - 20 mm steel) inclined at 68 grad. Provides 335/450 mm protection (against HEAT and Kinetic respectfully).

Turret front - 575 mm composite (50 mm steel - 325 mm aluminum - 200 mm steel). Provides 400/450 mm protection (HEAT/Kinetic).

T-64A from 1974 and T-64B:

Glacis - same as T-64A (335/450 mm).

Turret front - 450 mm composite (132 mm steel - 162 mm corundum balls - 156 mm steel). Provides similar protection to aluminum turret - 400/450 mm but more resistant to further attacks.

T-64 1984 modernization:

In 1984 T-64A and T-64B got additional 30 mm HHS (high hardened steel) plate to glacis:

Glacis protection increased to 410/530 mm, turret remained the same (400/450 mm).

T-64BV:


Glacis - 205 mm composite (60 mm steel - 35 mm CEM - 30 mm steel - 35 mm CEM - 45 mm steel) inclined at 68 grad.

Provides 410/470 mm protection.

Turret - same as T-64B (400/450 mm).

In addition T-64BV got 265 bricks of Kontakt-1 ERA, which increased HEAT protection by ~350-450 mm (800-900 mm total front).
 
T-80B

Glacis - 205 mm composite (60 mm steel - 100 mm CEM (composite epoxy material) - 45 mm steel) inclined at 68 grad. Provides 350/430 mm protection.

T-80B 1984 modernization:

T-80U

Glacis - same as on T-80BV (450/500 mm).
Turret - ~600 mm thick with "cell filling" armor.

Kontakt-1 ERA adds 350-450 mm HEAT protection.
Kontakt-5 ERA installed since 1987 adds 120 mm KE and 450 mm HEAT protection.

T-72 (1973-75):


Glacis - Same as on T-64 (335/450 mm protection).
Turret - 410 mm cast steel (380/410 mm).

T-72 (1976):


Same glacis (335/450).
Turret with corundum balls as on T-64B (400/450 mm).

T-72 (1977-78):

Same glacis (335/450).
Turret with sand bars - 530 mm (410 mm steel with 120 mm sand insert). Provides 380/490 mm.

T-72A aka T-72M:

Glacis - 216 mm composite (60 mm steel - 106 mm CEM - 50 mm steel) inclined at 68 grad. Provides 360/475 mm protection.
Turret same as on T-72 with sand bars (380/490 mm)

T-72A (1983) aka T-72M1:

Glacis - 232 mm composite (16 mm HHS - 60 mm steel - 106 mm CEM - 50 mm steel) inclined at 68 grad. Provides 400/490 mm protection.
Turret same as on T-72 with sand bars (380/490 mm)

T-72B aka T-72S:

Glacis - 6 layer steel with air gaps (485/900 mm with Kotnact-1 ERA)
Turret - ~660 mm thick with NERA (540/900 mm with Kontakt-1 ERA)

T-72B (1988), T-90:

Glacis - 3 layered with NERA (720/1000 mm with Kontakt-5 ERA)

New welded turret instead cast ~720 mm thick.
