Syrian Airdefences shot down Turkish plane

Thats because unlike Syria we are a modern and civilized nation which wont directly go crazy and attack Syria, But rather handle it more diplomaticly, Thats something positive you know..

Such an advance civilization and modern country like Turkiye can't handle this situation independently? You need to invoke your alliance, over the loss of one fighter jet?

This isn't handling it diplomatically, if you want to handle it diplomatically handle it with Syria the country directly involved. Both Syria and Turkiye have had a long ties no reason each other can't resolve this issue.

FM Davutoglu spent hours the other day phoning world leaders informing them Syria shot down a Turkish jet, what you can't handle this problem on your own? Even with a weaker neighbor? You need to drag in Western capitals into this affair?

Not only Syria, but every country on earth has a right to shoot an incoming jet with low attitude and high speed.Don't make it political,if you guys can't digest the incident simply read a little bit about international laws about countries air space.
I know Turkey would do the same if a Syrian jet fighter entered Turkish air space with high speed and low attitude which is used for bombing ground targets.

Did they have the right to shoot down a reconnaissance jet violating their airspace? yes, but it was an incredibly stupid move on Syria's part. Multiple countries have been looking for an excuse to intervene in Syria and now Syria just gave one of their biggest critics and excuse to take action. That's just incredibly stupid. I'm sure you can expect the flow of weapons to the FSA to increase in the next few weeks because of this.

What they should have done is this,

Warn the pilot to leave their airspace. If that didn't work, scramble their own fighter to escort it out of Syrian airspace. (My guess is they didn't scramble any jets because they were worried about more of them unexpectedly landing in Jordan. ;) )What they did was shoot down an unarmed reconnaissance jet that had violated their airspace for only a few seconds.

Now they have just given Turkey and NATO an excuse to intervene. This was just an incredibly stupid move.

I don't think that you even know what diplomacy means. We're informing the international players and our allies in NATO. Syria has the support of China, Russia and Iran. You see?

Can't you see how serious the situation is? Two Turkish pilots are probably dead by now because of the sonofabch Assad. And i can't stand stupid fvcks like you coming here and talking BS without even a clue.

Turkiye isn't simply informing, it's attempting to rally NATO into a military conflict with Syria. As for the meaning of diplomacy, I know what it means; especially considering my level of English is far greater than yours.

stand stupid fvcks like you coming here and talking BS

Mods should ban this loose tongue peasant, this isn't some slum zone where you probably come from watch your language. This is a Pakistani forum and for years we have discussed and debated subjects far worse and more severe than this one. Make sure you understand this next time you click post a reply.

.......You do not have any logical argument and you're talking nonsense, yet we're the immature ones?.............

my friend, I don't have time for arguments, sorry. Turkey must follow in accordance with the international law and should refrain from the recon plane on Syria terroritory. Also, they must pay compensation to their pilot's family.

Case dismissed, we must move on.

How do you know that? Please enlighten us. This is why you're a stupid. You're not discussing it. You're talking nonsense with your greater English.

I can see that, thats why i'm saying you to STFU

You first sounded like Syria is %100 right, now you're saying they must pay compensation. And this is why you're a troll.

Did they have the right to shoot down a reconnaissance jet violating their airspace? .

What right Turkey has to send its aircraft inside Syrian territory?
What right Turkey has to fund and aid terrorists to conduct terror work inside Syria?

You need to answer these fundamental questions before making deceptive victim face. Turkey is not vctim here, Turkey is instigator for NATO led terror work in Syria. And Turkey was part of same terror work in Libya.

Oh God, I really cannot stand some morons here trolling. Although everything is clear, they insist their BS. What was Turkish jet doing in Syrian airspace?; Turkiye also violates Iraqi airspace; Turkiye is puppet of US/NATO; You see the picture shows the jet was flying very close to Syrian airspace :blah: :blah: :blah:

My suggestion to Turkish friends, please leave these trolls alone. Whatever you say, whatever you prove with proof, they will not understand. Because some of them are too blind to see the reality, some of them`s comprehensive skill is so poor and not capable to understand you. And some of them are so ignorant and do not know anything about Turkiye. So just leave them alone...

The man is right, firstly you have to ask yourself what was a Turkish aircraft doing in Syrian airspace? Most likely trying to provoke the Syrians and or spy on the Syrians for war preparations--or a combination of both. Turkey is mostly likely trying to rally NATO into a war with Syria. Turkey is just like all other NATO countries, they fight in groups, they need big papa’s permission to do anything.

Though Russia is currently upgrading it's tank force. The T-72 is still the main tank deployed in the Russian Army. Any modern tank such as the Abrams or leapord II will make mince meat of it.

An Abrams was not able to penetrate an East German T-72 with reactive armor. I have my doubts that a modernT-72 with reactive amour would be pierced at great distances if hit on the front turret. Although by now to be fair the Abrams has upgraded kenetic rounds than again the T-72 has upgraded armor

The Russian made T-72 is not the same as what the Iraqis used which was their own version built from parts from Warsaw pact countries, nor is a T-72 a Chinese made T-55 which was often mistakenly referred to as a T-72 in Iraq, NATO soldiers had a bad habit of calling everything a T-72.

Here, let me copy paste it for you once again:
if the intention was to escalate the tensions, we would have done it when Syria attacked the refugee camps in Turkey.

So it wasn't about provoking someone. Turkish aircraft entered Syrian airspace for just 3 minutes, unintentionally. After the warning from Turkish radar center, it left the area immediately. 15 minutes later, it shot down by Syria without any warning while it was in international airspace.

It is up to you who to believe. But Turkey is the one whose offering evidences (radar records, syrian communication records) to back its claims while Syria not...

Man... and I thought I was arguing with a resoable person...

No country on earth has the right to open fire to an aircraft after 15 minutes of its leaving national airspace without warning specailly if said aircraft has open ID, left their national airspace after 2 minutes and is unarmed...

Interesting that Turkish account is quite similar to Syrian:

So that confirms my conclusions:

1) Syrians were tracking the jet for long time and it was no surprise to them.
2) The F-4 was flying at high altitude, otherwise they were not able to track it.
3) Syrians were pretty sure that its a Turkish plane, because it flew through Turkish territory at high altitude and then loitered around.
4) Its ridiculous to assume that a hostile plane intending to attack would loiter before that at high altitude dragging all possible attention.

But there is one additional thing: there was low pass through Syrian waters between 11:42 and 11:47. Then plane again climbed to high altitude and returned to about same position as before pass.

Its very possible that they decided to make another low pass but were shot down.

This is strange and quite provocative behavior. But it same time its not really menacing, because plane which intends to attack would never behave like that.
