Syria shot down Russian military reconnaissance plane, admits Kremlin

I don't think the S-200 has a fully automatic mode, this means the crew fired the missiles, and I guess the crew doesn't have an IFF system. Western crews have them.

There are no "Italian noodles"! they have Pasta, which is wheat flour based, while Chinese noodles are egg based! I wouldn't use your retarded analogy to noodles to prove you wrong though, how can you say American and Russian technology are the same? How can you say Russian and American principles are the same?
well S-200 is from 1960 , let for example look at BUK or S-300 are you claiming those system don't have IFF ?

by the way P35/P37 Radar that come with S-200 have IFF , Syria have that Radar so they have IFF but the question is DID that airplane had it's IFF on

.
I think it has IFF. Even if the AD crew seen friendly planes in the sky along with enemy planes in the sky, they would shoot anyway. Missile itself has no IFF. It goes after the nearer target with bigger RCS.

Additional radar systems
  • P-14/5N84A "Tall King" A-band early warning radar (range 600 km (370 mi), 2–6 RPM, maximum search altitude 46 km (29 mi))
  • or "Big Back" E-band early warning radar 600 km (370 mi)
  • Kabina 66/5N87 "Back Net" or "Back Trap" E-band early warning radar (with special low-altitude search mod, range 370 km (230 mi), 3–6 RPM)
  • P-35/37 "Bar Lock\Bar Lock B" 1,000 kW E\F-band target detection and tracking radar (with integrated IFF, range 392 km (244 mi), 7 RPM)
  • "Side Net" or "Odd Pair" E-band height finding radar (also used by the SA-2, SA-4 and SA-6, range 240 km (150 mi), 3–6 RPM)
  • P-15M(2) "Squat Eye" 380 kW C-band target detection radar (range 128 km (80 mi)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-200_(missile)

Same physics. Russian radars and American radars both emit radio waves. Radio waves is universal. Electrons is universal. There is no nationality difference in physics.
Clearly it didn't work:rofl:

So all radars are equal according to you...? o_O
Even though they clearly don't have common bands, range, or even purpose?
What about engine technology, avionics, optics, missiles, crew equipment, material composition, weight, size, communications, hydraulic systems, they're all the same between Russia and America?

Physics knows no national boundary yes so they are the same. Shape of system maybe different, but underlying science is same and universal.

Same.

Syrian S-200 are relatively modernized.
I question the capability of Russian air defense systems in general.

I would guess the IFF system failed.

So those are basically the same?

the keyword is relatively , and my guess is its more like human mistake than the IFF failure

MiG-29 and F-18 are the same type. S200 and MIM-23 are the same type. I didn't say TV and vacuum cleaner are the same type.
No. You said the MiG-29 and F-18 are the same, and the MIM-23 and S-200 are the same, use the same technologies and principles, and that the deisgns are a bit different, not just same type.

But you said all radars are the same, and you said that their shape doesn't matter, because they use radiowaves. What's the difference between a US military communications radar and a walky talky then?
"Shape of system maybe different, but underlying science is same and universal. Yes they are the same"

Same physics. Different drawing.

But you said all radars are the same, and you said that their shape doesn't matter, because they use radiowaves. What's the difference between a US military communications radar and a walky talky then?

Different types. Different uses. Globalhawk and DJI Phantom are both drones. Certainly different uses.

I never said the physics are different. What I'm saying that just because they are from the same generation, and both have similar roles, does not mean they're the same, or even largely the same as you've already stated:
Same principles. Same technology. Design may be slightly different. But largely the same.

Above is your reply to my comment:

There are many different types of radars, yet you've said that all radars are the same, no matter the shape, because science is universal. You've said, for example, that ground penetrating radars are the same as radars on AWACs planes, which contradicts your claim "Different types, different uses" for DJI Phantom and Globalhawk.

Roughly the same. The world is not perfect. Only rough. We Chinese do not believe in perfection. Only imperfection. In white there is black. In black there is white. Only you western people make everything perfect, like border has to be infinitely thin line.
