What's new

Syria shot down Russian military reconnaissance plane, admits Kremlin

its not that S-200 ,had problem , there are cases of patriot lock on friendly airplanes or even lock at Ghosts and fire at nothing , Syria must get rid of S-200 because of other problems not this one.

In 2003 PAC-3 destroyed one Royal Air force Tornado , one US Navy F-18 and nearly destroyed One USA navy F-16 luckily this time the F-16 was faster and dealt with the Rouge system with a HAARM
Today is 2018 not 2003.

Note secondary detonations.

Looks like the IAF F-16's made a seduction decoy of RuAF IL-20. Seduction decoy has larger RCS than target's RCS.

the system is the same, put the system again on Full Automatic and see what happens
The systems on the planes are different.
I'm pretty sure the Patriots radars can identify between friend or foe now.

It could do that even then , well at least in majority of cases , but some times shit have happened and even pentagon investigation could not find the reason so at the end they told pilots not to use encrypted IFF and told the ground crew not to use full automatic mode

It’s not the weapon but the knowledge to use it, give Arab armies the most sophisticated weapons they still won’t be able make use of it properly.

Israeli Arab wars, Iran Iraq war, Iraq US war, Syria war, Yemen war are examples.

This whole jet was behind spyplane sounds bs to me.

by the way do you knew Syria how old S-200 are ? (probably older than you and me)

S200 is SARH. It's basically a big MIM-23 HAWK, which is still used by Turkey, South Korea for example. The system has no problem. The crew does. M1A2 is good in the hands of American crew, crappy in the hands of Saudi Arabian crew.

Again you and your retarded oversimplifications...
How can you even compare the two systems? They use entirely different electronics, and you operate them completely differently, one was built on American doctrine and one on Soviet doctrine.

Same type and generation. Like MiG-29 and F-18. Like Spitfire and Me 109.

And how the **** is the Spitfire and Me-109 similar besides the irrelevant fact that they're the same generation? or the MiG-29 and the F-18? They were built by different engineers, with radically different designs, pros and cons, technology, way of operation etc.

we were talking about PAC-3 in 2003 and now and that today it wont lock on friendly aircraft because they don't use it in full automatic any more otherwise it as good in distinguish friends from foe as it was years ago

Same principles. Same technology. Design may be slightly different. But largely the same. It's like Chinese noodles and Italian noodles. Sure, there is some cooking difference, but noodles regardless.

I don't think the S-200 has a fully automatic mode, this means the crew fired the missiles, and I guess the crew doesn't have an IFF system. Western crews have them.

There are no "Italian noodles"! they have Pasta, which is wheat flour based, while Chinese noodles are egg based! I wouldn't use your retarded analogy to noodles to prove you wrong though, how can you say American and Russian technology are the same? How can you say Russian and American principles are the same?

I think it has IFF. Even if the AD crew seen friendly planes in the sky along with enemy planes in the sky, they would shoot anyway. Missile itself has no IFF. It goes after the nearer target with bigger RCS.

Additional radar systems
  • P-14/5N84A "Tall King" A-band early warning radar (range 600 km (370 mi), 2–6 RPM, maximum search altitude 46 km (29 mi))
  • or "Big Back" E-band early warning radar 600 km (370 mi)
  • Kabina 66/5N87 "Back Net" or "Back Trap" E-band early warning radar (with special low-altitude search mod, range 370 km (230 mi), 3–6 RPM)
  • P-35/37 "Bar Lock\Bar Lock B" 1,000 kW E\F-band target detection and tracking radar (with integrated IFF, range 392 km (244 mi), 7 RPM)
  • "Side Net" or "Odd Pair" E-band height finding radar (also used by the SA-2, SA-4 and SA-6, range 240 km (150 mi), 3–6 RPM)
  • P-15M(2) "Squat Eye" 380 kW C-band target detection radar (range 128 km (80 mi)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-200_(missile)

how can you say American and Russian technology are the same? How can you say Russian and American principles are the same?

Same physics. Russian radars and American radars both emit radio waves. Radio waves is universal. Electrons is universal. There is no nationality difference in physics.
