Would Turkey tolerate a Shia-Alawi splinter state on its borders? Assad could conceivably hold onto the western coastal region if he loses control over the rest of Syria.

I agree with the scenario.
Turkey is fighting a bloody war with the Kurds. Syria can start arming the Kurds and giving them save havens in Syria, while Hezbollah, Iran and Russia pour weapons into Syria to fight the FSA.
Sunni Powers like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey backed by the West will arm the rebels.
The Middle East hasn't been this interesting since 1917.
We know Shia Muslims in all countries are Iran lovers and Shia lovers and according to them Assad can do no wrong. There is a tiny minority of 50,000 Shia in Bangladesh among around 140 million Sunni Muslims. In Pakistan the number is higher at around 10-15% and they are highly educated and quite vocal on the web and forums like these. But they do not represent the vast majority of their country and their people's opinion.
That should put all these fire works and propaganda to rest.
And how someone Shia or Sunni in Bangladesh or Pakistan is any matter? Are you insinuating that whoever talks against US and NATO regime change game is autimatically Shia? Then you are so wrong that it takes down credebility of your statement. One does not have to be Shia to oppose genocidal regime change game. Assad has his own fault but genocidal regime change using terrorists is not the solution for it. Removing Assad in more local way is only way to do it. Offcourse Saudis and lakeys of west and NATO blood thursty war mongers would not let Syrian control their own future.
There is no other plausible explanation for words such as above, unless one is completely out of ones senses. One man's terrorist is another's freedom fighter, such is this strange world. Please correct me if I am wrong about my assumption.
And please cut the humanitarian empathy nonsense, every human being on this planet is partisan, that is how we have been since we evolved from teams of primates killing each other for ownership of fruit trees. Everyone is cheering for "their" team, close knit minorities with insecurity complex doing more so than others.
Please cut the crap on partisanship. There is a thing call morality obviously in support of genocidal western game you have lost that somewhere. Otherwise, no one with basic sense of moral would support this so called Shia-Sunni divide and killing millions in the name of WMD hoax and regime change.
Kalu_miah is right. There is something called Real Politik, unbeknownst to you.
In this world there is nothing called morality, only your interests. It sounds cold, but that's how it is.
