. . .
Preach that to Kaptaan sahib . . probably that will make things a little better. . . or start absorbing replies in "context".
@Kaptaan said everything in context with India you were diverting the topic with your C grade failed humour
my 1st reply was also in the context of sewage issues in India
do you have link to any Video or article which tells us the problems of people shown in video have been addressed?

Boost for PM Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: Study finds 93 percent village households with access to toilets using them

In a major boost to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious Swachh Bharat Abhiyan scheme, 77 per cent of houses in village areas have toilets. Of those 77 percent households, over 93 percent have shunned the habit of open defecation and started using toilets.

In a major boost to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ambitious Swachh Bharat Abhiyan scheme, 77 per cent of houses in village areas have toilets. Of those 77 percent households, over 93 percent have shunned the habit of open defecation and started using toilets. This was revealed in the annual rural sanitation survey NARSS under the World Bank. The survey has also confirmed that 96 per cent of villages which were given Open Defecation Free (ODF) tag by respective districts and states authorities concerned, according to Times of India report. An independent agency had conducted the survey between mid-November 2017 and mid-March 2018.

The survey shows 70 percent of villages have a minimal litter. Since October 2, 2014, over 6.6 crore household toilets were built. The date obtained from Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin website shows 3,40,370 villages have been given ODF status. There are 341 open defecation free districts. The government has also said that 30 crore people have stopped defecating in open since October 2014.

The agency had submitted survey results to Expert Working Group which has NITI Aayog, World Bank, UNICEF, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, India Sanitation Coalition and Sulabh International etc.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that India is expected to be open defecation free by October 2019. Singh had said that to further boost cleanliness, the central government was implementing an Rs 12,000-crore action plan through 76 ministries and departments.

PM Modi had on October 2, 2014, picked up a broom to launch the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and has exhorted people to take part in it from time to time. PM Modi had also written personalised letters to iconic celebrities, prominent industrialists, sports-persons, film stars, inter-faith leaders and other noted personalities to promote the initiative.

This is such an incredible achievement. At first I suspected the govt wouldn't be able to do it. But this is a significant achievement.

Let's not forget the electricity supply also. The power for all program is working out really well.

At this rate, both could reach 100% by next year.

Only couple of thousand of villages are unelectrified now. We may anytime hear that all villages are electrified now.

This man and his team has a great potential to pursue any work on mission mode on very very large scale. Look at jandhan. Now it is toilet, Gas connections etc. I would like him to take tree plantation on mission mode so as river cleaning and river reviving.

Nitin Gadkari gave a speech in Rajasthan. He told that Rajasthan had 7000 km National highway in last 7 decades. He doubled it in 4 years.

I will go off-topic here for a bit.

Believe me, if Modi could disassociate from BJP/RSS he will earn more support. :)

He has the chance but is squandering it.

But on topic, yes, I will give credit where it is due.

Kudos to the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'.

I have two questions :

1. So these villages have drainage systems like we have in urban areas??

2. Is any experience of the Sulabh Sauchalaya project being used in the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'??

.
@Nilgiri that was quick.

Yes but I am waiting for it to be vetted by UNICEF as well, esp in their WASH initiative. That will be released later this year and I think the date will be about 1 -2 year time lag, but the improved ramp should show up I think.

1. So these villages have drainage systems like we have in urban areas??

These are improved pit latrines (many with composting etc) mostly. Over time a much more comprehensive infra will come (piped sewage etc), because the water availability has to really improve first (the priorities with water affect that now). I posted a useful link regarding this in OP, here it is again:

2. Is any experience of the Sulabh Sauchalaya project being used in the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'??

I believe there is much mutual cooperation (SBA is really a larger Aegis). The founder (Sulabh) is definitely quite supportive to the larger govt program:

http://www.sulabhinternational.org/...n-sulabh-international-founder-is-all-praise/

http://www.sulabhinternational.org/12-crore-toilets-needed-by-2019-to-realise-swachh-bharat-mission/

In TN state for example, I know of 2 - 3 earlier (Quite instrumental) programs (like city public toilet infra and pit composting in rural areas) subsumed now under SBA.

.
The numbers are only for gramin/rural India. Swach bharat is @ two way approach Swachbharatgramin for rural India and swachbharaturban for urban India. If you include the urban sanitation coverage then all India coverage almost crosses 90%. We should achieve near odf status before oct 2,2019 deadline. Now if we consider there is an error of 10% due to wrong data entry and people not using the toilets built even then a 90% coverage will be a huge jump for India in less than 5 yrs. When new data comes early next decade our western neighbor will replace India as a country with massive open defecatimg population.

He cannot as most Indians do not get motivated to vote on developmental issues rather vote on emotive issues like caste, religion and language.

Voting on development requires a level of maturity in a person. India has a long way to go before it achieves this. ABV learnt the lesson the hard way with his shining India campaign.

Modi is a RSS pracharak. That's as Sanghi as you get.
Have been following politics for a while
1. Pre Babri every one hated Sanghi Atal.
2. After Babri Advani is the villain and Atal is the secular one in BJP.
3. post 2004, after Advani got old, he becomes a nice guy and Modi becomes the villain.
4. In few years let me bet Modi will become the nice guy and the next gen guy who comes out of BJP will be the evil one.

Same tactic, different players, different eras.

guess what though, Modi is a pracharak. He is a pracharak first and anything else later.

If Indians were to vote of developmental issues, than 100% of India would vote for Modi :cheesy:

NOBODY in their right mind would ever vote for CONgress.

It's the CONgress who benefits from polarization, not the BJP. Especially caste, religion and language, the staple diet of CONgress and religional parties who are offshoots of CONgress thinking.

Well, Modi may be better than others when it came to development but he is very weak when it came to National security and foreign policy.
