Swach Bharat closing in on 80%, doubling coverage from start

That is irrelevant since China always thinks strategically and will any play the game to corner us, irrespective of what we do.

It's foolish and Naive to think that it's our actions that somehow guide Chinese actions :disagree:

We do not need US to step in to "save" India since we can pretty much do that of our own. In fact, its the US which needs India to help prop up its role as a global policeman on which rests its entire currency and hence its economy.

So far no other agreements have been signed, so it's dishonest to point at into the future and cry foul.

In fact, Modi has done well to force China to engage with us and work to resolve issues with us on a priority.

Of course China would do whatever they do irrespective our actions but LSA has supposedly impacted India's traditional relations with Russia too.

Its for Dassault to decide who their partners are going to be, its not for you to decide and they are answerable to their shareholders.

Such rhetorics is good for playing to the idiots gallery but will certainly not fly with me or any half intelligent poster.

This is the list of Rafale partners in India.

1.jpg

THIS is the official GoI response made in parliament regarding te ToT.

“The quantum of offsets in the Inter-Governmental Agreement (IGA) for 36 Rafale fighter jets is 50 per cent, which includes investments in terms of Transfer of Technology (ToT) for manufacture and maintenance of eligible products and services. The current offsets policy of the Defence Procurement permits the vendors to provide details of their Indian Offset Partners (IOP) either at the time of seeking offset credits or one year prior to discharge of offset obligations. Vendor/Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) is free to select his Indian Offset Partner.”

Of course it is the prerogative of Dassault with whom they would partner but it is also the prerogative of GoI to whom the deal would given..

GoI could have insisted that the Indian partner should have some experience in Defence/Aviation and could not be a rookie who just acts as a shell/front company. Why should Dassault dictate terms to GoI? The only silver lining in this saga is that Reliance is a patriotic Indian company and creation of DRAL which catapults Reliance into Indian defence aviation sector.

We need to catch up with China economically, not militarily. That is more important for our long term security. THat is why we now have agreements with the US that will help us focus on the economy while we outsource some of our worries about CHina.

Meanwhile our defense spending has seen a healthy jump, compared to the CONgress rule.

Fully agree that India needs to focus on the economy. There is simply no plan B here but Modi could have done better by not falling into the trap of populism a la Congress

And that is just speculation with ZERO evidence to support that claim.

IAF has already clarified it has no plans for the F 35 so that again is a non issue.

India is banking on the LCA and the MCA for the future.

IAF chief has only clarified that they have NOT Officially asked for a classified briefing on F-35. They have neither denied being received/will receive it nor ruled out that IAF will not procure F-35 in the future. It would be foolish to not have options and to rule out F-35 as an option.

With regards to other foundational agreements, the talks are on.

Yes, I too was concerned when the Modi govt. restarted the GM trials after stopping it . But my faith is now restored since they have been stopped again due to RSS insistence.

You are free to speculate if it was a "tactical retreat" or "strategic", such speculations are purely guided by your prejudices and bias. I don't really care WHY they do it, as long as they do the right thing.

I do not have any prejudices or bias against anyone. I always read things with open mind but it equally important for me to understand why some did something not just what someone did.

A commitment gives us global standing as a DOER. It gives us a platform to demonstrate our leadership. That is the price anyone pay for leadership and there are always benefits for being a Leader. It gives you power to guide policy and public policy towards your end goals.

India has been lucky here with China selling solar panels at pennies over dollars else we would have been in deep trouble to keep our pledged commitment by forking out huge amount dollars with no ToT.

I have no views on the high-level Intellectual Property (IP) Working Group.

It's for you to show me all the bad things it has done since 2014. Can you list a few ?

Basically it means the following

1) Adversely impact the ability of Indian pharma companies to produce generic drugs at low cost and exporting them

2) Increase in prices of drugs for patients in India

1. Do not use large size fond. Stick to standard font.

2. Russia is not the USSR. Their economy is smaller than ours. Their defence budget is slightly larger than ours.

They are heavily dependent on Oil exports to China and imports of chinese good to Russia. For all practical mattes, they have already become China's bitch.

They still pretend to be powerful and Free, but they do it from under China's shadow.

This is the reality. It's not pretty, but the truth seldom is.

India has no choice but to move towards the US to balance our interests with China. That is the only way China will take us seriously. Russia does not have the weight to support us anymore. its as simple as that.

And WHY should the GoI do that ? How is it GoI business who Dassault partner with ? GoI should stick to GOVERNANCE and should stop telling people how to run companies.

Some populism is good politics, some of it is good economics. After all Politics is the art of the possible.

True, but the front runner of winning the new competition is Boeing with its F-18, and they have already partnered with HAL. Not the F-35 which is made by Lockheed martin.

"Why" someone did what is always speculation coloured by your own prejudice. Unless you know who to read minds.

End of the day, the proof of the pudding is in the Eating, not its smell.

True. then again one can say India has been lucky for the low oil prices.

But I believe Fortune favours the brave. As long as we work on the problems, the solutions will continue to present itself. That is just they way how the world works.

So far,

1. Prices of Medicine in INdia has COME DOWN under Modi.

2. Exports of pharma to the US has GROWN.

Only couple of thousand of villages are unelectrified now. We may anytime hear that all villages are electrified now.

This man and his team has a great potential to pursue any work on mission mode on very very large scale. Look at jandhan. Now it is toilet, Gas connections etc. I would like him to take tree plantation on mission mode so as river cleaning and river reviving.

Nitin Gadkari gave a speech in Rajasthan. He told that Rajasthan had 7000 km National highway in last 7 decades. He doubled it in 4 years.

Anando, India was fully electrified yesterday Last village of northeast connected with grid yesterday

100% villages electrified before deadline, PM Modi salutes DDUGJY foot soldiers

According to the information available on the ministry's website, the government has electrified 597,464 villages, a 100 per cent of those identified in the census.

Promise made, promise kept. Now as close to 100% household electrification as possible can finally sustainably follow given the root connection infra is finally permeated nation-wide.

I am just copying and pasting from the source and not reformatting. I do not have time/patience to reformat.

And WHY should the GoI do that ? How is it GoI business who Dassault partner with ? GoI should stick to GOVERNANCE and should stop telling people how to run companies.

Because it is GoI's money. If it was Reliance's money no one could care less.

Some populism is good politics, some of it is good economics. After all Politics is the art of the possible.

And Modi/BJP turned out to be as bad as the others. The party with no difference.

True, but the front runner of winning the new competition is Boeing with its F-18, and they have already partnered with HAL. Not the F-35 which is made by Lockheed martin.

Grapevine is Modi would go with F-16 for IAF and F-18 for IN.

True. then again one can say India has been lucky for the low oil prices.

But I believe Fortune favours the brave. As long as we work on the problems, the solutions will continue to present itself. That is just they way how the world works.

O&G prices are climbing again and fiscal discipline is paramount now. India cannot afford the repeat of UPA 2.

.

Its NOT GoI money, its Rafael's money. We will be paying them only AFTER they have delivered the aircrafts.

In any case, as long as they fulfill the terms of the contract, GoI has no business tell them how to do their job.

And Modi/BJP turned out to be as bad as the others. The party with no difference.

No its not and you know it.

Grapevine is Modi would go with F-16 for IAF and F-18 for IN.

I work in this industry and I can say with confidence that there is NO CHANCE for F16. Its going to be F18. Especially since they have the same engine as the LCA.

Modi govt. has outstanding fiscal discipline.

Will DRAL be born and bw live had GoI did not give Rafale deal to Dassault? Certainly not. Had that been the case then I would have agreed with your statement that GoI should not influence on such decisions.

And what happens when LCA starts sporting Kaveri 2.0?

Any alliance is built on mutual benefit, so if Dassault chose Reliance they must have seen some value in it.

How would it matter if they choose Tata instead of Reliance ? it would not make an iota of difference.

And what happens when LCA starts sporting Kaveri 2.0?

I would not be holding my breath for Kaveri 2.0.

The only value was that Reliance was close to Modi both being Gujju bhais. This is the same reason why SAAB partnered with Adanis who are also Gujju bhais. Had this was a Congress government at the helm they would have partnered with Tatas. Remember the Radia tapes?

This is pure speculation , colored with prejudice.

Radia tapes were real that showed CONgress conspiring with Tata, Do you have anything similar about the BJP ?

Promise made, promise kept. Now as close to 100% household electrification as possible can finally sustainably follow given the root connection infra is finally permeated nation-wide.

They want to get it done by March 2019. There's only 32 million people left apparently.

I work in this industry and I can say with confidence that there is NO CHANCE for F16. Its going to be F18. Especially since they have the same engine as the LCA.

Rafale for the IAF. IAF has asked for technologies and capabilities that only Dassault can fulfill. The IAF has warned that if minimum ToT offers are not met, then contenders will not even get RFPs, that's a direct message to the Americans.

F/A-18 or Rafale for the IN. Depending on which one manages to operate on board the carriers. If both manage it, then Rafale it is.

LCA will most likely come with the Kaveri. Or F404. So the SH doesn't share the same engine in fact.
MCA will most definitely come with the Kaveri. No F414s here.

The best macro-economic performance ever in India was obtained in 2014-18.

Swach bharat may seem to have very good progress but just like Bangladeshs literary figure it is highy shoddy . somthing like toilet availability in a country which is deep rooted in its culture cannot be solved in such a short amount of time.
And for me such macro level development led by the government is not sustainable unless there is a serious involvement of civil society in such projects.
I dont want numbers because they are shoddy to begin with. I want to know the role and involvement of civil society during this campaign.

Some good sustainable implementations/follow up:

Overall a good progress.

This one is especially promising for adoption at town level:

Impressive, especially for a town such as Devanahalli !!

I also liked the Drip-irrigation piping at 6:13 mins.

I agree that instances of public defecation and littering will not change maybe in the next three years but if the public is told things like what was given in @Nilgiri 's first vid ( of Mangalore ) - of the public owning the park and therefore they shouldn't litter it - such things will create education.

Maybe 6 to 7 years from now, we will have a relatively clean Indian.
