ISLAMABAD: A suicide bomber killed at least seven people and injured 12 others outside the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) in Kamra Cantt on Friday, police said.
‘There was a suicide attack and at least seven people have been killed,’ said district police officer, Fakhar Sultan. ‘Two Pakistan Air Force personnel are among those killed in the attack,’ he told AFP.
The attack happened near Kamra cantt, northwest of Islamabad, DawnNews reports.
Taliban militants have stepped up attacks on urban targets as the military continues a major offensive against the insurgents in their strongholds in South Waziristan near the Afghan border.
Analysts have warned of the possibility of more urban attacks as the militants are squeezed out of their strongholds, with the Taliban hoping bloodshed and disruption will cause the government and ordinary people to lose their appetite for the offensive.
