Six killed in first drone strike after spy chief meeting

Guys and girls, this situation will continue unless if USA leaves the region.

bloodshed have been in teh region long before the ameircans came, afghanistan was burning like hell and alot worse than today. yes, pakistan was safe, but for us afghans, it is not worse for us, we have seen alot worse than this.

no matter what we say, the fact is that these drones attacks are carried out by both pakistan and americans. pakistan provide ground intelligence and the americans fire the drones. Drones without ground intelligence will be nothing, if we complain about civilian casualties, then there is a problem with intelligence being provided.

As I said, it is very hard to stop a crazed killer. The Pakistani establishment has no choice but to co-operate, the US is hell bent on destroying itself, Afghanistan & Pakistan. Pakistan needs to stay calm. It is a fact that the US has not shared intelligence with Pakistan in the recent drone strikes as to where they would take place. Of course the US has the approval of the Pakistani establishment to conduct drone strikes in Pakistan, but there are two specific sub-issues that need to be looked at.

1) The US is expanding the area in which drone strikes are being conducted.
2) It is not taking the Pakistani establishment into confidence where these attacks would be taking place

As a result of these two points, more civilians are being killed, as evidenced by the US killing 80 local jigra tribals, that had nothing to do with terrorists. If the drone attacks can be limited to a concentrated area, if they don't indiscriminately kill civilians but only target the anti-state terrorist elements that the local tribal people hate as well, maybe this can work. But the US is a bit too headstrong right now for its own good, Pakistan needs to gain leverage over them (as it did with Raymond Davis), & start deploying their own troops there & empowering the tribal people there.

The best combination I can see of combating these terrorists is to have limited drone strikes in concentrated areas that only (mostly) kill terrorists, & the Pakistani Army starting operations in North Waziristan to fight terrorists, & also empowering local lashkrs to fight the terrorists.

@ Ahmad
And you know better than me who were plotters in 80s. Soviet and USA. And USA leaves the region without helping Afghanistan.
Then again USA withdrawal from the region is the only solution.
Plus we are also suffering from 80s.

yes you are right, but you forgot to mention pakistan which was also part of the formula.

and how exactly was pakistan suffering?

@ Bilal
1) Can you give any example of expanded area.
2) Establishment totaly back these drone attacks.
3) Tribals were having meeting with Taliban on mine issue. During this jirga, drone attack killed tribal men. Approx 15 Taliban were killed in this attack.

@ Ahmad
Pakistan always act on the orders of USA. In 80s , we were acting like assistants of USA. But now we should have to go forward in right direction.
Secondly, sectarian violence , gun culture , herion culture , migrants and islamization were gifts for Pakistan in 80s.

Pakistan Tells U.S. It Must Sharply Cut C.I.A. Activities

The drone campaign, which is immensely unpopular among the Pakistani public, had become the sole preserve of the United States, the Pakistani official said, since the Americans were no longer sharing intelligence on how they were choosing targets. The Americans have also extended the strikes to new parts of the tribal region, like the Khyber area near the city of Peshawar.

@ Bilal
It was establishment which allowed these activites. Now, they are crying. Anyhow, we have to join hands with our government.
Secondly, may be they have done one or two strikes in Khyber Agency. But their main target is north and south Waziristan (specially haqani group).

The problem isn't the number of terrorists in the tribal regions, they are probably only 20,000-30,000. The worrying part is that the drone strikes from the US increase the number of terrorists greatly.

i dedicate this song to zardari gillani kiyani pasha and rao qamar . yes you guys are same like geera blade

Of course it is the establishment that allows these activities, they have no other choice now. But the fact is that the area where drone attacks are being conducted is increasing, & the Pakistani establishment is not being taken into confidence where these strikes would take place. That is worrying for Pakistan's security, & that is what the ISI chief talked about when he went to the US.

30000 is not a small force. Drones have negative impact. But Pakistan connot stop them.

Guys does any one know how many talibans are there....????
And how many years does it takes for US drones to finish them off ...?

@ Bilal
And CIA Chief says we cannot reduce drone attacks and spying in Pakistan.

20,000-30,000 can be fought against easily enough if you have the support of the 4-5 million tribal people, along with the 150,000 Pakistani troops being deployed there. It however becomes a problem if the 4-5 million people waver in their support for the Pakistani establishment, & decide to side with the terrorists. The way things are going there right now with the drone attacks, Pakistan is under serious risk of losing the support of its 4-5 million FATA people. That will be a whole other ball game.

Another problem that needs to be looked at is all the cross-border infiltration coming from Afghanistan & other places, which is why we have a huge number of Arab, Afghan, Uzbek & Tajik terrorists in our FATA regions as well. Something needs to be done to stem the flow of infiltrators into our country.
