It's futile if they think their Kilos Submarine will give much differences in battle strength, after all with only Cham Ranh Bay as the solely Naval base who can sheltering and supporting their Kilo and no other fleet and facilities to support their Submarine fleet, their submarine is sitting duck

you are clueless. our men receive trainings in russia and india because these countries offer playgrounds we don´t have in vietnam. before the subs being transfered to vietnam, all the crew members have received intensive trainings in russia, including combat tactics on the high seas. similar in the case of the su-30. russia and india are large countries offering access to the vast sky and ocean. of course, we maintain training facilities in vietnam as well.

What is two dozen flankers and a handful of submarines far from home gonna do? For the disputed islands, building coast guard vessels is better as a real fight with the PLAN is absurd.

With technology and naval combat, Vietnam has a pretty bad record. During the battle at Hoang Sa, the Vietnamese fleet greatly outmatched the PLAN but still lost due to friendly fire, poor choice of ammo and seamanship.

Cancel the submarines and buy lots of small arms, manpads, rpgs and stockpiles of ammo in the jungle. Every one hates fighting the Vietnamese in the jungle and you have a good reputation there at least.

Nowaday, mobility weapons are very fast and efficiency . the naval battle ocurred in year 938 between vietnamese naval force under the command of ngo quyen, and chinese under liu hongcao (the son of liu yan, the southern Han ruler back then). just few chinese sailors had survied at the decisive battle. liu hongcao was killed. the sea water turned red because of blood. liu yan was shocked when he received the news that his son fell.
