Shops to close by 7pm, marriage halls by 10pm in Sindh
Karachi39 MINS AGO BY WEB DESK

The Sindh government in a cabinet meeting has decided to close shops by 07:00 pm and marriage halls by 10:00 pm, for which ministries of labour and industries have been tasked to ensure the implementation.

It was agreed that the system would be enforced from November 1st, but before that the government would take market associations and shopping malls management into confidence over the new timings.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah had hinted last month towards the development. Addressing a programme organised by Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry he said we are developing a system under which all business activities would start functioning from the morning to evening.

The CM directed the district administration to meet traders, market associations and other stakeholders and update him about their feedback on daily basis.

In an attempt to reduce the financial burden of poor people, the cabinet also put restrictions on number of meals that can be served at weddings to three; curry, rice and any sweet dish.

They live in a dreamworld. You need to look at economic and social realities and the main one is that many people do their grocery shopping in the evening after work.

I can announce that markets will open at 12 and close at 1, but that does not make it practical.

Well, TBH, to hide the competency and mismanagement yet they came with such plan whereby the shops and shopping centres to be closed by 7P.M which is not possible nor feasible neither economical for business hub like Karachi that mostly gentry comes out after evening or after after returning from offices to spend sometime with families. Actually, provincial Government is totally flopped, the culprits of PPPP have eaten each and every penny of Budget and there is nothing left in treasury for development or bear the expenses yet are damaging the business on daily basis as they have no other plan. It is a plan to damage the remaining economic shape of Karachi that the Provincial Government itself failed to provide the required atmosphere, power etc to run the business for growth. What to expect from PPPP except more damage to the society, business and economy within the reach.

The meal system or one dish is a good approach and should be applied to everyone but it is only for those who cannot pay some under the table money to the administrators.

what abut wine shops ?

Such shops are mostly open as the elite has to buy and such shops belongs to most powerful people so no issue in that area.

Goli maro Benson+Garda lagain sab kuch bhul jayein gay ap phir nikay kakay ki tarah neend aye gi

Benson to theek ha baki ye doosray nashay se wese he qom tabah ha aur Karachi ma tu arooj par ha k ALLAH reham karay bas.

I am surprise with some of the comments here, what is wrong if they decide to close them early, have you not seen the traffic congestion after 7pm in Karachi, it takes hours sometimes to reach your home.
It is quite common in Europe in fact in Germany and Holland they clse everything at 6pm and Saturdays Sunday's are off, are we more stronger in economy than them but anyways thes are my two cents.

We are hell short of energy and it's good step in right direction, finish that Nawabana habits Shopping centers others shops open afternoon and close late mid night. Open the business at 9AM and close it between 5:00 to 7:00PM the food courts etc are exceptional.

Good one Hazrat but city is plagued with such drugs that even the local lawmen are involved in certain parts of the city by receiving weekly or monthly beat. :what:

Good decision, but will not happen.
If implemented, citizens will adjust their timings themselves.
Long term effects will be positive, both for shopkeepers and public.

All countries in Europe close all markets around the same time.

good decision now if only they can implement/force it! shops timing should be 9-7
