Saudi Prince Mohammad optimistic about F-35 deal

yes saudis are experts in reverse engeeniring
They are many countries that will volunteer for that. Consider China. Saudis are on right track. Israel will be a lost land again for Jews. Arabs have it planned. Yes, they're dependent on US for the time being. With the passage of time, it'll reduce when they become self-sufficient technologically and economically. Just wait and watch :)

they wont ever do that to risk their alliance with USA
also realistically Saudis don't really need f-35 Israel is friendly and their F-15s are far exceed anything Iran can ever field in a decade.

why should they? like I said they dont need stealth to face off Iran. and Qatar is way too weak to pose any challenge
they got access to the best western technology and are very close Allies of West
why go for untested and unknown technology that maybe inferior and incompatible to their current equipment?

Take your trolling skills elsewhere.

well anything is better than a jew worshipper. you Saudis can only kill muslims in Yemen and blockade Qatar during Ramadan (even food and water) sick. yet you kiss the Israeli a55

. .
That's actually not true. The Israelis jumped up and down to try and block not only the first batch of 154 F-15's to Saudi Arabia, but the recent 72 F-15S frames and were basically ignored both times. The Israelis even had the audacity to try and prevent the upgrade package to the first batch of F-15's and were brushed aside. So this 'stamp of approval' might apply to some other states, such as Egypt, but not in Saudiya's case.

I don't think any rational person would deny that. But there are much more beneficial elements to arms deals that go well beyond D.C.'s bipartisan love for Israel's interests. Mainly the monopoly of these arms deals. The days where US arms were the better & only available choice in a business that involves hundreds of billions of dollars worth of contracts that can extend into decades worth of economic investments and returns, and the all-important strategic hegemony, has dwindled a little bit for the US. It needs to keep, not only Russia from re-entering the ME sphere, but the other elephant in the room, China. By default, Israels influence dwindles as a result.

Many would argue Israel is the one that's tolerated.

And what did the US do when Saddam invaded Kuwait? Hardly an act of toleration.

And my point is they shouldn't. They have the leverage to negotiate a very favorable deal.
The Saudis Rulers and for that matter, all the oil producing Gulf Rulers do not know how to earn respect, they believe in buying it with money they never earned. And as for as having"the leverage to negotiate a very favourable deal"goes, the Khashogees of Arabia will make sure of their HEFTY cuts.

"Money they never earned"? It's their money, isn't it? If it's the country's money, they have the authority to use it and have been using it quite well, actually. Not only for essential defensive procurement, but investments in infrastructure, economic and developing growth AND for the essential protection and expansion of the 2 sacred sites of Islam. I say they've been doing an excellent job.

Not sure what that means, TBH. :-) Saudi Arabia has the 4th largest foreign reserves with all the massive purchases they've made up to now. I'd say they're doing things right.

When they give access to China, by that time Saudis would no longer need USA. Look at Pakistan, we were dependent on US military gear but things have changed a lot.

usa will live the gulf than iran will eat them alive
In your dreams. Iran can only talk, they can't deliver. If they were that strong, Houthi's would have had major break-through by now. Its not going to happen, unless its in your dreams :)

Your delusional! US is in full control of Saudi Aircraft maintenance requirements! They only allow simple maintenance to be conducted by the Saudi's! That's why every Fighter Purchase is sold with a maintenance package and every time the Aircraft needs overhaul they are shipped out to the U.S.
There is also an American Maintenance crew working under a Saudi Name but all the main workers & professionals are Americans!

The ONLY country on that list that's spending 10% of it's GDP on weapons and yet can't build
It's own Warships, It's own Tanks, It's own APC, Any missiles of it's own, any military Aircraft, or Helicopter of it's own, Any type of precision guided weapon of it's own, any radar, any optical sensors, communication devices,..... is Saudi Arabia!

And the Saudi Military is still weaker militarily than all the countries on that list! Their Navy is a JOKE and they are the ONLY country on that list without a Submarine. Their Ground Forces are by majority reliant on a constant foreign supply & as for their Air Force not only are they unable to maintain their Air Force fleet but they are not even allowed to do so!

And after years of bombing Yamen the Saudi's still can't stop Missiles from being fired at them from one of the poorest countries in the world.

Increasing military spending is not a bad thing AS LONG AS the vast majority of the spending goes towards producing and developing your own weapons!

The last F-15 purchase cost Saudi Arabia ~$250 Million USD per Aircraft that includes (Aircraft, spare parts, a few add on's, limited number of weapons, training equipment & 2 years of maintenance)
Now will that Saudi F-15 in it's entire life span be able to even take out 250 targets? Not likely! That's $1 Million USD per target just in the 1st 2 years of the aircrafts lifespan not including fuel and other simple maintenance cost!
And if that's what they paid for an F-15 got to wonder how much they'll be asking for F-35's
