Right now breaking news is coming in Saudi Government had replaced their intelligence head Bandar Bin Sultan don't know who is the new guy @Yzd Khalifa @Aeronaut @Oscar @nuclearpak @Arabian Legend @JUBA @al-Hasani @BLACKEAGLE

He took a higher position. Prince Badar is taking Muqrin's seat as the Head of the Saudi National Security Council .

I'm eager to know why. He is very smart, manipulative, and experienced man with rich political knowlegde.

It is simple. With his record, he deserves to be the Head all Intl External Agencies of KSA.

Its some Yousuf Al Idreesi who will be now head of Saudi Intelligence @Yzd Khalifa Who is he ?

In the past such sensitive positions always went members of the Royal Family.

Does the General belong to the Royal Family ?

Not at all. All Intl agencies are run by Non-Royal politicians.

Even the GIP itself used to be run by military men. It isn't as sensitive as you might think :-) ...

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has replaced intelligence chief Prince Bandar bin Sultan, the kingdom's pointman on the Syrian conflict, “at his own request”, official news agency SPA announced Tuesday.

In a royal decree, the powerful official was “exempted... from his position at his own request” and replaced by his deputy, Yousef al-Idrissi.

Bandar, a former ambassador to the United States, is widely regarded as among the most influential powerbrokers in the Middle East.

But the veteran intelligence supremo went abroad for several months for health reasons, with diplomats saying he had been sidelined in Saudi efforts to support rebels fighting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime.

They said the file has been transferred to the interior minister, Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, who cracked down on Al-Qaeda following a wave of deadly attacks in the Gulf state between 2003 and 2006.

Bandar's management of the Syria file had triggered American criticism, diplomats said.

The prince himself reproached Washington for its decision not to intervene militarily in Syria, and for preventing its allies from providing rebels with much-needed weapons, according to diplomats.

Media run by the Syrian regime and its allies in Lebanon have repeatedly lashed out at Bandar, accusing him of supporting Sunni Islamist radicals in Syria.

Don't try to sneak away saudis, you will be attacked for what you've done

Replacing one of your master terrorist is a joke, please be patient the Free World Army is coming for you and Israel

A very interesting move indeed.
Seems like after sidelining Qatar and MB. The Saudis have decided that they have enough and are re-tracking their own steps.
Would it also mean the end of the insurgency in Syria? I think time will tell. But this in itself is quite a big shift.

Well, whole region is burning .Its time for everyone to save their house. Terrorism is curse and never know who is providing fuel in the name of freedom. But after Taliban dilemma, Pakistani establishment learn that never feed the monster for others, it always come back to master very angry. A wise move by Suadi govt , region can not afford more terrorism. Specially after increase in flow of Suadi young generation toward Syria.

p.s This is political news not defence related. So, it should stay in political section.

Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz issued a decree on Tuesday relieving intelligence chief Prince Bandar bin Sultan of his post and appointing his deputy Youssef al-Idrissi as acting head of intelligence, the Saudi Press Agency reported.

“Prince Bandar was relieved of his post at his own request and General Youssef al-Idrissi was asked to carry out the duties
of the head of general intelligence,” the state news agency added.

“The royal order will be carried out by the concerned authorities with immediate effect,” SPA added.

Prince Bandar, a former ambassador to Washington, was appointed as Chief of General Intelligence in July 2012 and has worked to help the Syrian Free Army (FSA) bring down President Bashar al-Assad.

In October last year he warned of a “major shift” away from Washington after President Barack Obama, who visited Riyadh in March, decided against bombing Assad's forces following a chemical weapons attack in Damascus.

Prince Bandar has been on medical leave since early this year and was reported to have undergone a convalescence period in Morocco. He reportedly returned to Riyadh last month.
