There is talk that the contacts underway between Saudi Arabia and France over a deal for the French-built FREMM-class frigate in favor of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF) depend on French approval to localize the frigate technology in the Kingdom.

Let us hope that a deal involving ToT and local production (as per the new current and great Saudi Arabian policy) can be reached but if not there are other alternatives out there. Look no further (from France) than neighboring Spain for instance.

I think France will agree on ToT if KSA agrees on 4 or more Fremm.. KSA has already ordered 5 corvettes from Spain..

By all accounts there are alternatives out there and regardless of that, we will have to await what this rumor will bring and whether it will actually materialize.

What is certain is that KSA is looking for the best option.

Since the Spanish corvettes are for the Eastern fleet they will have American systems to be compatible with the US made ships..Some ToT might come with the corvettes.. but in what form is the question.. remember the necessity of ToT in the new Saudi defense purchase policy..
The Saudi Western fleet is all French though, so it might stay that way.. hopefully with important ToT this time..

That range is known.. but it can be reduced, also remember that KSA bought the DF-3 with 4000 km range from China before.. if this comes with the Fremm, it will be a good addition..if not, The Fremm as such is one of the most advanced frigates of the world..

Yes FREMM is one of the most advanced Frigate in the World ( with 16 x 1000km MdCN Cruise Missiles )

but Egyptian FREMM class Frigate has no MdCN Cruise Missiles .... only 30km ASTER-15 Air Defense Missiles and 180km EXOCET Anti Ship Missiles
