PAKISTAN AIR FORCE AIR CHIEF PAYS GLOWING TRIBUTE TO PAF WAR VETERAN GROUP CAPTAIN (RETD) SAIF UL AZAM, WHO BREATHED HIS LAST IN BANGLADESH 15 June, 2020: Group Captain (Retd) Saif-ul-Azam, Sitara-i-Jurrat, war veteran of 1965 Indo-Pak war, breathed his last in Bangladesh after prolonged illness. Air Chief Marshal Mujahid Anwar Khan, Chief of the Air staff, Pakistan Air Force has expressed heartfelt grief on the sad demise of the great war veteran. While paying rich tributes to Group Captain (Retd) Saif ul Azam, the Air Chief acknowledged his heroic deeds during the 1965 Indo-Pak and 1967 Arab-Israel wars. Air Chief further added that he was an exceptional fighter pilot who would always be remembered for his valour and professionalism. Group Captain (Retd) Saif-ul-Azam was born in Pabna District, East Bengal in 1941. He was commissioned as a fighter Pilot in October, 1960. During 1965 War, he served in No 17 Squadron at PAF Base Sargodha. Apart from inflicting heavy damage to Indian forces in 12 ground-attack missions, Azam also had one IAF aircraft kill to his credit as well. For his valour and devotion to duty in 1965 war, he was awarded with “Sitara-i-Jura’at". Group Captain Saif ul Azam also attained Global repute when he shot down three Israeli aircraft during 1967 Arab-Israel war. In recognition of his heroic contributions he was honoured with the military awards by the governments of Jordan and Iraq. The US government also bestowed upon him the title of “Living Eagle” in 2001.

پاک فضائیہ کے سربراہ کا مایہ ناز فائٹر پائلٹ گروپ کیپٹن (ریٹائرڈ)سیف الاعظم کی وفات پر ان کی خدمات کو شاندار خراج عقیدت 15 جون 2020؁: 1965 کی پاک بھارت جنگ میں شاندار کارنامے دکھا نے والے پاک فضائیہ کے مایہ ناز ہوا بازگروپ کیپٹن (ریٹائرڈ) سیف الاعظم طویل علالت کے بعد بنگلہ دیش میں انتقال کر گئے۔ پاک فضائیہ کے سربراہ، ائیر چیف مارشل مجاہد انور خان نے عظیم جنگی ہیرو کی وفات پر گہرے رنج و غم کا اظہار کیا ہے۔ائیر چیف نے انہیں خراجِ عقیدت پیش کرتے ہوئے1965کی پاک بھارت جنگ اور 1967کی عرب اسرائیل جنگ میں انکے جرأت مندانہ کارناموں کو سراہا۔ ائیر چیف نے مزید کہا کہ وہ ایک غیر معمولی فائٹر پائلٹ تھے اور اپنی پیشہ ورانہ مہارت اور بہادری کے لیے ہمیشہ یاد رہیں گے۔ گروپ کیپٹن ( ریٹائرڈ) سیف الاعظم 1941ء میں مشرقی بنگال کے ضلع پبنا میں پیدا ہوئے۔ انہوں نے نے اکتوبر 1960ء میں بطور فائٹر پائلٹ پاک فضائیہ میں کمیشن حاصل کیا۔ 1965 ء کی پاک بھارت جنگ کے دوران سیف الاعظم پی اے ایف بیس سرگودھا میں موجود نمبر 17 اسکواڈرن میں تعینات تھے۔ بھارتی افواج پر بارہ حملوں میں بھاری نقصان پہنچانے کے علاوہ انہیں ایک بھارتی جنگی طیارہ مارگرانے کا اعزاز بھی حاصل ہے۔ اس جنگ میں انکی فرض شناسی اور بے مثال جرات کے اعتراف میں انہیں ''ستارہ جرات'' سے نوازا گیا۔ گروپ کیپٹن (ریٹائرڈ) سیف الاعظم کواس وقت بین الاقوامی شہرت حاصل ہوئی جب انہوں نے 1967 کی عرب اسرائیل جنگ میں تین اسرائیلی طیاروں کو تباہ کیا۔اس جنگ میں ان کی غیر معمولی بہادری کے اعتراف میں انہیں اردن اور عراق کی حکومتوں نے فوجی اعزازات سے نوازا ۔ 2001 ء میں امریکی حکومت نے انہیں دنیا کے بہترین ہوابازوں کی فہرست میں شامل کرتے ہوئے ''Living Eagle'' کا ٹائٹل بھی عطا کیا۔

I would to see such but it is unlikely due to maybe political reasons...

I see that he is being honored by the BAF, but I wonder if he is as well regarded and admired in Bangladesh as in Pakistan. Of course I would be pleased if the level of respect in Bangladesh is the same or more. Any members in the know would care to enlighten the forum?
