SABR AESA Radar for the F-16

. . .
you could have all your F-16s upgraded to it, long as you got the money and U.S approval.

Well if they are available then why not, as AESA radars are a huge improvement. Btw any idea how much does it cost?

but Taiwan is having all it's old F-16s upgraded to the V version.

First F-16V Developed for Taiwan Requirement Takes Flight | Defense News: Aviation International News

The U.S. Air Force (USAF) awarded Lockheed Martin a $1.85 billion contract in late 2012 to begin the AESAretrofit and upgrade of 145 F-16A/B Block 20 fighters operated by the Republic of China air force. Asked for an update on the program, the manufacturer said it is “not at liberty to provide any updates about the Taiwan F-16 program at this time.”

The question is will they be available to Pakistan ? if we are willing to pay for it ? If we can buy 8 submarines then certainly we can get 2-3 Sqd for F-16 V or F-16 Block 60.
I don't see why not. we just sold 8 more F-16s to Pakistan.

are you talking buying brand new F-16V or retrofit?

buying new birds would mean getting the most powerful engine for the F-16 as well.

If Block 60 is available to Pakistan then certainly Pakistan should go for 3-4 more Sqds, I know many people don't like the idea of inducting F-16s anymore as they come with strings but since have perfected this platform then it can be a good stop gap unless we move to something big.

Difference is only AESA redar which PAF can get down the road in a seprate order but having erieyes and ZDK3 airborne assets PAF realy dont need AESA on F 16 s they can get vector from these platforms beacuse AESA is very expensive plus dont need at this point .

LM see a huge potential and apetite in PAF for F16s i wont surprise if there would be a follow up order very soon looks like PAF will go 56 to75 new birds that was desired before Earthquick 2005 .its look like never ending romance with this beautiful and great plane .

SABR is a very good improvement to the current F-16 that the allies have. Upgrades like these show that LM still believes that F-16 has the potential to survive against 4.5 gen platform like Typhoon and Rafale.

However as far as the question "Will PAF go for them?" is concerned with my limited knowledge and sources, I don't think so that is going to happen. Approval, Affordability and Need are the factors that will decide the fate of SABR in PAF, first one being the biggest hurdle. On the other hand I am more optimistic about JF-17 getting AESA.
