Probably got scarred by the game against England where they put them in. A fear based decision.

Long way to go for this match though, we saw some uneven bounce and sharp seam movement, so deffo not a batting paradise.

It wasn't overconfidence, it was stupidity...if they lose this match, they have one foot in the door to be kicked out of the tourney. If I was a South African fan, I would demand the coach and captain to be sacked for this appalling decision. Complete lack of cricket sense.
