As reported in the March 2018 issue of the Chinese aviation magazine 有關 航空 的 緋聞 和 閒話 ("Aviation News") published in Shanghai , Russia and China have been negotiating for some time about temporary training "internships" for pilots of Russian naval aviation at the first the Chinese aircraft carrier "Liaoning" (Liaoning) . We are talking about the pilots of the 100th and 279th separate naval fighter aircraft regiments of the Northern Fleet aviation of the Russian Navy, whose flights from the deck became impossible due to the installation of the only Russian heavy aircraft carrier "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Kuznetsov"in the repair, the end date of which is difficult to foresee. In view of this, the Russian side appealed to the Ministry of Defense of the PRC with a request to conduct "training" tours of Russian ship pilots on the almost identical Chinese aircraft carrier Liaoning for the time of repair of "Admiral Kuznetsov ". The magazine reports that the Chinese side has responded positively to this request and now detailed negotiations are underway, for which a group of Russian military specialists arrived in China at the beginning of the year. The agreement will be concluded on a commercial basis with the participation of Rosoboronexport. Presumably, Russian pilots will arrive in China in groups of four or six pilots on their planes (Su-33 and MiG-29KR / CUBR) and make a number of take-offs and landings on them on the deck of "Liaoning". The article notes that for both sides this will also be a good way of getting familiarized with the procedures and peculiarities of the actions of ship aviation - even though the Chinese naval aviation "arose from the same nest." Although, as the Chinese magazine is sure, by now the "Chinese deck aviation has already surpassed the Russian one", nevertheless, he recalls that the Russian ship aviation at the "Admiral Kuznetsov" got real combat experience, participating in combat operations in Syria on a march in 2016, 2017 year.

From the side bmpd notethat the planned agreement is not unique and reflects a fairly common world practice when training pilots of the deck aviation of one country in the event of the disruption of their "regular" aircraft carrier carried out on an aircraft carrier of another country. So, Argentine deck pilots made flights from Brazilian aircraft carriers, Brazilian ones - from French Charles De Gaulle, and now the pilots of French carrier aviation due to Charles De Gaulle's putting on average repair, undergo internship "in the US Navy.

Chinese learn alot from US and Russian can learn alot from Chinese.

That report is as @Akasa noted nothing more than an April 1st joke ... funny but nothing else.

I don't think Liaoning is a good idea since it has been redesigned so is J-15, the inboard electronic and navigation are in Chinese language, this is like to go to trainee on new environment with take off and landing procedure but I think Vikramatiya is even better for Russia since it was design by Russians and they know every single components at their finger tips, India has also Mig-29k which Russian design and probably Russia will have a free training since they can teach Indians how to fly at the same time.

I don't see why not, it is a great idea for both countries

I hope you know since when India has been operating ACC and ship Bourne fighters. India has experience with Catobar, Ski-jump as well as VTOL. There's not much that Russians can train Indians about.

Russian pilots will be glad to be on board of this toy :D. Mig-29K is main Russia Navy carrier's fighter jet and it's 100% compatible with Indian AC.
