Russian ambassador to Turkey shot dead in Ankara

There will be no pakistanisation of Turkey. At the end of the day the average Turk puts his country before his religion, whether you like it or not.
The war of independence was fought with Sunni, Alevi, Turks, Kurds, Arabs etc.

What was the motivation of Mehmed II? You clearly dont know what you talking about. The most achievements of Turks in close history are accomplished with the power they took out from the Qur'aan and the Sunnah.

You can have a ferrari but a ferrari without a V12 can't do anything. And thats what Imaan is all about. ( Muhtac oldugun kudret, damarlarindaki asil kan'da mevcuttur diyecegini bildigim icin bu ornegi gostermek durumunda kaldim).

The United States embassy in Ankara and its consulates in Istanbul and Adana will be closed for normal operations on Tuesday after an individual approached the embassy and discharged a firearm, the embassy said.

It said the individual, who opened fire at 3:50 am (0050 GMT), was in police custody and there were no reported injuries in the incident which occurred hours after Russia's ambassador was shot dead nearby by an off-duty policeman.

The Iranian embassy in Ankara announced that its consulates in the three Turkish cities of Istanbul, Trabzon and Erzurum will be closed on Tuesday after the Russian envoy's killing.

"All consular services in Iranian consulates in Istanbul, Trabzon and Erzurum will be closed on Tuesday, December 20. We urge all Iranians to avoid visiting these locations," the embassy said in a statement on its website.

Russia and Iran are the main supporters of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the assailant who killed the Russian envoy shouted "Don't forget Aleppo" when he shot him.

Officials from the French and German embassies in Ankara told Reuters their operations were continuing normally for the time being.

The timing, the place, the victim, the guilty party and the party to blame. Someone planned it very well to get more by one moment even without getting noticed but hearing to President Putin and Erdogan, seems like the plot has almost lost in the first go same as like when the brigade was dancing like cheerleaders during last failed coup. I wish and am hopeful that both Russia and Turkiye knows what really happened. It is so easy to chant anything while executing on such moments to blame and malign others that if it was done only due to Syria then I don't know how may British & US officials would have been executed for fake WMD's in Iraq alone so leave aside what happened in other countries.

Someone tried to to return the favour in opposite kind against the Russian support to Turkiye for pre-coup communication and tried to sabotage the whole development and further strengthening ties between Russia & Turkiye that even a nation which has no concern with these relations, cannot see Russia-Turkiye getting closer and is trying to sell its beans uninvited.

Condolences to the Russia and prayers for strength and unity to our Turkish brothers in these crucial times that enemy don't want us to prosper but we will do so.

Turkish authorities were Tuesday holding six people over the assassination of the Russian ambassador to Ankara by an off-duty policeman, as Russia urgently sought answers over the murder. With the Turkish capital already on high alert after a string of attacks this year, an individual also fired outside the US embassy in Ankara overnight in a separate incident.

President Vladimir Putin declared “we have to know who directed the hand of the killer” and the Kremlin said a Russian investigative team were flying to Turkey to probe the murder. An unprecedented three-way meeting between the foreign ministers of Turkey, Russia and Iran in Moscow over the Syria crisis was meanwhile set to go ahead despite the killing.

Ambassador Andrei Karlov was shot four times in the back by Turkish policeman Mevlut Mert Altintas, 22, as he opened an exhibition of Russian photography in Ankara. Dramatic images showed Karlov stumble and then crash to the ground on his back as the attacker brandished his gun at terrified onlookers who cowered behind cocktail tables.

The gunman shouted and then said all those responsible for what has happened in Syria and Aleppo would be held accountable. Altintas had set off the metal detector security check when he entered the exhibition in central Ankara as he was carrying a gun, the pro-government Sabah daily said.

But after showing his police ID, he was waved through and allowed to proceed. The Hurriyet daily added that Altintas, who had worked for Ankara’s anti-riot police for the last two and a half years, had stayed at a nearby hotel to prepare for the attack.

It said Altintas, who was off duty at the time, had put on a suit and tie and shaved at the hotel before heading to the exhibition centre. He was later killed by police after a shootout that lasted over 15 minutes.

Altintas was born in the town of Soke in Aydin province in western Turkey and attended a special school for training future policemen. Six people have been detained over the attack, including the sister, mother, father and uncle of Altintas, Turkish media said.

The mayor of Ankara, Melih Gokcek, known for his outspoken comments, speculated on his official Twitter account that the attacker may be linked to the group of Fethullah Gulen, blamed for the July 15 coup aimed at toppling President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

So cringy to know people like you still exist. If prayers were enough to get shitt done we would be a galactic super power by now. Instead of praying why dont you become an active and contributing member to your society and country by studying and going to school. Allah didnt create you so you can sit on your arze and do nothing beside praying.

That pretty much sums it up. An imam from a mosque in Turkey has put this on the gate:
He says: "Before teaching the prayers to our children, teach them to be a moral/good person. If not our kids will be as followed:
• a thief that prayers
• a pervert (namely rapist) that fasts in Ramadan
• a moneylender that sacrifices kurban
• a liar going to Mecca for Haj
• a terrorist that speaks of şehadet."

Scribbling on a book....thats so wrong....so...so very wrong ! :o:

I've never written anything on my books! :tsk:

But thats probably because I only own ebooks and don't know how to scribble stuff on them. :p:

I am afraid that Turkey Situation is becoming more like Pakistan , when US and NATO invaded Afghanistan within few years the Entire WOT has been Shifted to Pakistan , and we experience more attacks in Pakistan compared to Afghanistan , so it seems like someone is trying to Shift this War in Syria into Turkey .. Suicide Attacks , Rise of Extremism and Attacks like this can be just a start and excuse to show Turkey is becoming Radicalized .. I really Pray that is not the Case Cause i really love Turkey and see it as place i wanted to be .
I hope Turkey can handle this situation and deal with Extremism harshly , part of me think that Erdogan is acting more like Western Puppet than he is for Turkey .. maybe he was planted by the west in order to bring a hard-core Sultan kind of leader to undermine the Secular's in Turkish Society .
You don't know much about Turkey and it's best to keep such poor analyses away if one isn't knowledgeable of a topic. That said, Turkey is still secular and exactly because Turkey is on its way of becoming more independent it is becoming a target for the US, even most anti-Erdogan Turks would agree with this. After all, anyone who doesn't serve US interest becomes a dictator/islamist/tyrant that must be removed. Their (US/CIA) regime change attempt has failed in July, the US and EU are directly and openly supporting pkk terrorists in Syria and before, they are openly harboring pkk/dhkp-c/Gulenists on their soil without any shame, Western media has been churning out 24/7 anti-Turkey propaganda since a few years, yet all of this must be happening because 'Erdogan is becoming a puppet', and not the vice versa, according to you? Lol. Becoming truly independent has a price, a price Turkey is paying now and will keep paying, which is better than closing our eyes for a regime change in change for no harm from the US and co.

Erdogan is not planted by the West and instead tries to get even with them somehow really.
However, recent events show Turkey under his rule is too much Over-Confident and stubborn.

I think what Turkey should learn from Pakistan is that How to "Kept your Aims high but lay your head always low until your enemy(ies) are defeated completely".

I completely disagree with you on this one, so becoming idependent is isolating yourself from the rest of the world, and no erdogan is the one who is serving .US intrest more than any other Turkish politician, he is the one who is hosting american base where the american aircraft take off. and are supporting pkk ypg, this country is in the state of affairs currently is becouse of erdogan and akp, where they chop and change foreing policy..

What a hidebound mentality this guy has. The real reason why Turkey didnt develop all that time is because of this stupid left wing ideology. Copy past didnt bring us far. Last 15 years the country developed itself more than you and left wing ever could imagine.
