You don't go round picking up fights with the Russians. Everybody knows how much NATO stepped in during the South Ossetia invasion. NATO was nowhere to be seen. NATO will not want to get into conflict with the Russians and if Turkey goes into a sticky situation in any other country, Turkey will be forced to step back as a decision of NATO. Oil supplies of Europe being frozen during the winter is not a nice scenario as the Russians have proven before.

I saw no active/direct NATO and Turkish meddling in Syrian geopolitics. There I mean We havent provided direct military operation/help to opposition. Yet Syria is in shambles. Comparing to Syria, Russia is bigger. Sure, but not invincible.

Turkey has its own side. If Turkey thinks that her road is blocked. Then she may try to force it open. Turkey proved it by now, as you witnessed recently.

I dont support Turkish war on any other country. But in case of, If geopolitics force us to do so, I have no objection to aggressive policies.

Reality is that Russia is not Soviet Union. She depends on Muslims for industrial manpower and military manpower. Turkey is catching up quickly. Hordes of 13th century was the joke part.

There are currently two issues where we face off Russians. 1) Energy corridor and 2) Karabakh. Therefore, It is inevitable that Turkish and Russian interests would clash somewhere and some time.

Turkey's influence area is expanding and Russia won't back off, these two powers ill eventually clash. When that time comes Turkey will use all the cards on the table including NATO.

If the russians got 5,000+ Casualties against the chechens in a much more open terrain , lost the first chechen war and we fighting one of the hardest terrains , against people in mountains and had 10,000 casualties in 28 years against ambushes , road bombs , then that shows russia is all numbers , and dont compare russian tech ( most ) junks with our things .
