Rs 3L cr ($60 billion) plan to boost India's naval might

Focus on tech. Beat China by using asymmetrical warfare against it. Building Subs to counter it would be a good move but not feasible as it will take too much time. Nonetheless, steps should be taken to add HDW to the fleet. Mini Subs armed to the teeth, sensors all aroung the ocean, mapping of the ocean to find spots where our subs can hide and take advantage of the natural fomations, etc. P8i is a great move, keep expanding on that direction.

I have always advocated for the listening posts...Listening posts are absolutely necessary to counter the monstrous number of submarines in the IOR..Plus the no. of ASW Aircrafts ( both Fixed wing and rotor ) + ASW Corvettes must be increased..

Oh man thats HUUUGE..IN is surely goin to be one of the top best by both technologically and interms of quantity in the near future :)

Give the $60 billion for IAF/IN to buy 600 FGFA. That will make 900 FGFA .
150 Naval variants can take down 150 enemy ships with in day . It can be fitted with anti submarine warfare . One can say its easy to say but think otherwise :azn:
The same logic why weaker (intelligent i must say)countries prefer SAM's over Air superiority fighters .

India should also try to improve its operational capability. I read somewhere about this US naval officer visiting one of the Indian ships and he was not pleased with what he saw. It's understandable that US navy carries 70 years of war experience but having souped up foreign bought ships doesn't cut it if you don't even know how to efficiently use it.

That was from a flase flagger, who in real was not even a US sailor. Indian Ships are well maintained and scheduled repairs. Dont read such posts.

^^^ @Shiv was just about to say that- $60 BN is a lot of $$$. But I believe this article misses out some key areas this money will also be spent over purely capital increase. This money is also going to UPG/expand the IN's existing naval bases and build at least 3 HUGE, new ones not to mention a dedicated nuclear sub base (at a undisclosed location) and a dedicated amphibious warfare base at A&N islands. These infrastructure projects are just as important, if not more so than the acquisition of new assets as they have to be based somewhere and maintained and armed- there's no point in having a 65,000+ ton ACC (IAC 2) is you've got no where to dock it ( an issue IN has realised and has quickly moved to start rectifying).
