BEIRUT -- Two rockets struck a base housing American troops in eastern Syria on Wednesday without causing any human or material losses, the U.S. military said.

The morning attack on Mission Support Site Conoco came as Iran and its allies in the region marked the third anniversary of the killing of Iran’s leading general and chief of the powerful Quds force, Qassem Soleimani, in a U.S. drone strike in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.
No one claimed responsibility for the attack in eastern Syria, where it is not uncommon for bases housing U.S. troops to come under rocket fire or mortar attacks. Iran-backed militia are based nearby as are sleeper cells of the Islamic State group that was defeated in Syria in March 2019.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition war monitor, said the rockets were fired by Arab tribesmen in the region who are armed by Iran.

“Attacks of this kind place Coalition Forces and the civilian populace at risk and undermine the hard-earned stability and security of Syria and the region,” said Joe Buccino, spokesman for the U.S. Central Command, in a statement.

CENTCOM said members of the Kurdish-led and U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces visited the site from which the rockets originated, and found a third that was not fired.
The U.S.-backed Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces announced later Wednesday that they arrested a senior figure in the Islamic State group, the militants' financial official from Deir el-Zour province. His arrest comes amid a dayslong campaign by the U.S.-backed force against IS sleeper cells in parts of northeastern Syria that have claimed responsibility for deadly attacks in recent weeks.

There are roughly 900 U.S. troops in Syria, including in the north and farther south and east.

US base in Syria’s Koniko gas field comes under rocket attack

News sources reported a heavy rocket attack on the US military base in the Koniko natural gas field, in the northeastern Syrian governorate of Deir Ezzor.
MEHR: News sources reported a heavy rocket attack on the US military base in the Koniko natural gas field, in the northeastern Syrian governorate of Deir Ezzor.

Local sources told Sputnik that at least 10 rockets were fired at this American base. Immediately after the attack, the sirens were sounded inside this base.
At the same time, American helicopters and fighter planes flew over the base.

These sources announced that these rocket attacks were carried out by an unknown group.
These sources suggested that a number of American forces and armed people affiliated with them were injured in this attack.
Earlier on Friday, Syria’s General Organization of Radio and TV reported that several missiles were fired at the base.
A larger part of Syria’s Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa and al-Hasakah governorates is currently controlled by the US-backed Kurdish Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Since 2015, the US command has set up nine military bases in this area. Damascus brands the United States’ military presence on Syria’s territory as an occupation.

Iran Deal consequences, when you accept a blackmail, you can expect endless blackmails in the future.

What blackmail? They don't dare to take solid action, they know the consequences of escalation things in this region.

That's not blackmail but smoothly bleeding them.

The biggest joke is, there was no casualties.

Iran Deal negotiations is blackmail.

They harass American troops, and then they get fresh American money through Iran Deal negotiations.

Let's supposed you are right. It would be the stolen money of Iran freezed in western banks. Mostly it is the oil dollars of Iran.

But regardless, previous government believed that you can solve issues with west and specifically USA in a civilized manner but what US did after negotiations? Sabotage, terror against Iran and Iranians, etc.

The current government knows the language of west well, you need to hit a wild animal beside trying to tame it.

I dont criticize Iran, I criticize dumbshit Americans for accept blackmail and make Iran Deal.

Iran does well, Iran knows how much press the American beast. When to attack and when to restraint. Iran doesnt believe American stupid lies.

Well, in fact things can be understood better from USA point of view if you consider that USA is ruled by wall st bankers than dont give a sht about USA troops deployed in ME.
And they dont give a sht if a large war in ME is won by Iran or by Israel or GCC, they just need things burning in Eurasia and people decreasing living standards in a decreasing world in energy and raw materials.
That's the only way to understand Iran Deal from USA point of view.
