The US even under Obama has cut H1-B visa quotas for India in various years. It is not a big deal if Trump decides to cut it drastically for India.

A top US lawmaker has introduced a 'joint resolution' in the House of Representatives to express Congress's disapproval over an arms deal with Pakistan which includes the sale of eight nuclear-capable F 16 fighter jets to the latter.

"The government of Pakistan has been using weapons from the US to repress its own citizens and especially the people of Baluchistan," Congressman Dana Rohrabacher said yesterday after he introduced the resolution in the House of Representatives which is similar to Indian Parliament's lower House, the Lok Sabha.

"The deciding factor of whether to support this Joint Resolution is, for me, the arrogant and hostile actions taken by the government of Pakistan against the man who helped bring Osama bin Laden to justice," Rohrabacher said.

Earlier this month, the Obama administration officially announced it would go through with the US $700 million arms deal with Pakistan.

Alleging that Osama bin Laden was a "mass murderer" of 3,000 Americans on September 11, 2001, he said anyone who helped bring him to justice is an "American hero".

"The government of Pakistan arrested Shakil Afridi and continues to hold him in a cage. The arrest was a declaration of hostility toward the United States," he said.

"Our government should not provide military equipment to Pakistan, let alone F-16s, as long as they are holding Afridi.

His continued incarceration is an action which underscores that the government of Pakistan considers itself our enemy, not our friend," Rohrabacher said.

A day earlier, former Republican presidential candidate Senator Rand Paul introduced the joint resolution in the Senate to block sale of F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan.

The resolution (SJ Res 30) calls for prohibiting sale of eight F-16 fighter jets to Pakistan, which the State Department had recently notified to the Congress.

It also calls for "prohibiting sale" of other military hardware to Pakistan including eight Advanced Integrated Defensive Electronic Warfare Suites (AIDWES), 14 Joint Helmet Mounted Cueing Systems.

Seems number 8 is bad for Us Pak relations, First 8 Grc43m get blocked, now F16 might be.If Nawaz gov didnt get approval of Cutters (just a patrolling vessel with short range weapons) it will be intresting to see how these 8 ,congress let it go.Test for Us .It not look like nawaz gov is intrested.Pak Gov did not write a request of review ,for Cutters and did not rise the issue in Nawaz Obama meeting.How can these Jets cross congress borders.only hope usa need us again.

congress has untill the12th of march to block the deal, which is rare. as far as the pakistanis are concerned those f16's are as good as theirs already.

J-10B/C hasn't been cleared for export. MiG-35 hasn't even seen its first production types off the line. The PAF would probably prefer Su-35, so as to build genuine long-range capabilities, especially for maritime. The Su-35 is going to depend squarely on Pakistan's fiscal capacity. If the proportion going into debt-servicing declines, Russia could be willing to extend a line of credit or term financing plan.

Really? are you only sure, it's due to it fiscal ability? or due to pakistans patience? personally i would prefer the su35 being served as naval attack to replace the mirage 5's heck they have huge legs so they can go the distance. as for long legs for the airforce the j31 will have about a 1200km combat radius. but wait 9 years, for now you can have the block 52 with the cft's and the 600gal fuel tanks with a rane of >1800km<2000km combat radius.heck 8 more are being delivered by 2017 q4.

"TOP" US lawmaker Dana Rohrabacher" .......really..?? "TOP"???? If I had a huge Indian population in my constituency and they paid for my elections through fat donations, I'd be considered a "TOP" lawmaker in India too. Whether I passed the law school smoking joints or through luck!!!!

I've seen plenty of "top" lawmakers with the IQ similar to Donald Duck, doesn't mean they are the top ones, but people thought they were. You see them in courts and their ability to really interpret the law and the constitution, and defend their case, and you wonder how the hell did they get out of the law school.

On the -16's, this is a request by the Pentagon who deals with the Pakistani military on hourly basis if I understand correctly on real issues plaguing the globe today like terrorism and all. I don't think a lobbyists (called a "TOP" lawmaker lol), has a say in it. This is just paper work to show the donors "I did the best for you by filing a useless paper, now fund my next campaign".
