Raising US army as Christian Army

.
What's the big deal in it. Christians are trying to convert more people to christianity so are Muslims converting other people to Islam.

When is spreading God's word ever wrong?

When other nations have other concepts of God, and someone presses without being requested, their concept of God wrapped in military muscle or missionary bread, thats when :disagree:

do I state here how that particular version ( a more fiery version) came into being only 5-6 centuries earlier whereas both original Christianity and Islam are far more ancient,

or do I need to state how "Muslims and Jews' find the belief of a Son of God as the greatest heresy ever imaginable

Needless to say, though related to this forum only remotely, pressing one's views especially religious on the weak or oppressed or occupied is everything BUT CHRISTIAN

"Presses?"

Truly laughable. Have you no faith in your faith?

You've made no case here. It's been tried before here as well. Wasn't made then either.

Oh, P.M. me your address, please? I've got a new testament waiting with your name on it. I'd love to help you find your way to the one true God and the son of Christ...

...or else.

Nice,, I do like your sense of humor,

the tone in my post was just a reflection of the emotions some feel about their Islam, and since the US Army is also posted in Afghanistan, so it was a reflection of the Afghan (Pushtun) mind.

I hope people (foreigners) understand this emotion.

I have been to parts of the world where people have such strange concept of religion, I would get banned if I mentioned them here

Personally, I dont give a damn what anyone believes in or does not believe in, it is their choice. That is the important point, It should always be their choice. I hate other people pressing their beliefs or ways on anyone. It just isnt fair, it is sort of dictatorial, what you believe in others may not.

Yes I used "press", come on, that was a semi sophisticated usage of the word, ;) .

Bottom-line; I hate it when any human being is prevented from thinking, feeling, believing what he wants to, control is something I never liked.

PS: A good sense of humor (S2) is a rare kindness, though expecting to be appreciated from the other side might not always turn out to be pleasant. Whereas some westerners can even find humor in religion, there are many others who dont. As beautiful as it might be to posses a sense of humor, even more beautiful it is to be able to know how to use it without hurting others. ;)

PPS: my bad for any hard feelings, that was not the intention.

No worries, stud.

Most of our christian troops couldn't quote a single verse from a bible and only seem to find God when the bullets are flying.

My priest would KILL me were he to next see me at Mass. It would be the first time in too long to remember.

Oh! God loves ALL his children...

Last time I was in confession was back in Dec 1974. If I have to 'fess up my sins today, it would have to be something like...'Forgive me, Father, for I have sinned. To view a comprehensive list of my sins, please point your web browser to this IP address...And please enable Flash to enjoy...er...I mean...so you can see the full experience of my sins.'

What's wrong with proselytizing so long as it is not done at the barrel of a gun?

Unlike the Taliban, at least US troops are not strapping on suicide vests or driving cars full of explosives into markets to enforce their 'religious interpretations'.

Haven't heard of US troops throwing acid in girls faces ala some Taliban extremists either.

There are valid issues to criticize the US on - this is not one of them.

Our friends here S-2 and Gambit here are Catholics.

Protestants dont go to Mass and they dont make confessions to a Priest and they dont take the Pope as the 'Holy Father' ( they might respect him as a figure head of the Catholic church but the rejection of papacy is fundamental to the Protestant belief )

Views of Catholics and Protestants are very divergant on proselytizing also.

Many Catholics feel proselytizing is not ok , although many aspire to make others , including the protestants , to be Catholics since they feel that Catholicism is the correct Christainity despite the fact the pagan Roman Emperor Constatine invented the Roman Catholic Church to save the Roman Empire.

Militants evangelism is more common in the United States , what you see in this video are fundamentalist evalgelist protestants of the US military aspiring to make more like them.

United States is a White Anglo Saxon Protestant ( WASP ) nation ( thats the power base irespective of the claim that they are secualr etc etc ) and deep underneath they wont give this much space to the other sect ( i.e Catholics )

I can bet that Catholics will NEVER be allowed to do this kind of proselytizing and if it was ever found that the Catholic Church is actively seeking to convert the Protestants and others , there just could be a riot!

.
There are different kinds of faith.

One groups says "I will die for my belief, my faith, my God".

Another group says "you will die for my belief, my faith, my God".

I will leave it up to the reader which group their faith falls in.

I have known both, with many friends, one of my relatives is a Catholic, though I am thus biased, I have found the Catholics and the Catholic philosophy to be more appreciable, it is after all the more original or ancient form.

Though, not widely publicized, Muslim leaders throughout the ages have given the same respect to the Pope as they would give to Imam e Kaaba, since he represents the heavenly religion. Though sadly, in these times that gap is fast widening.

Protestants on the other hand, are fiery to say the least, not all, but many I have had interaction with. Hallelujah

I found that in my few years, I could sit down with my Catholic and even some Jewish friends and openly discuss religion anyway I wanted to and it would always end in a nice manner.

I cannot say the same for Protestants, maybe it was just a coincidence to have had that view because I was in the South or otherwise, God know better.

And then there are the good people in Cali or up North who just dont give a Damn about religion   . There was this one group I met in Cali who worshiped some trees (druids and some Italian type of witches  ).

I bet none of you have met any of those psycho scientologists  . There are so many weird cults and lines of beliefs in the US, I found it mind boggling.

The point of all this is to say, the US, only a small part of the world shows so much religious diversity, what would the world be like. :woot: .

International forces, especially military, should have a Prime directive or mandate not to interfere in other nations beliefs, it would only be fair.
