RAFALE deal to be signed in TEN DAYS

.
What would be really interesting is what President Hollande putting to the table with India besides pushing Dassault

Few days back a negative news about Hollande lack luster performance about def deals came out where clearly Mistral and fallout of MMRCA tender were listed..along with Egypt deal which even though French Banks are part bankrolling yet the quality of credit is just a shade above Greece...Experts Estimated range to around 60Bn $ loss of new business opportunities purely stating the present President Hollande is not having enough clout as compared to Previous French Presidents as well as not able to achieve crucial breakthroughs by not sufficiently pushing French Military complex..The experts viewed ex President N Sarkozy would have wrapped Indian big deal by now.. Such hard hitting articles were causing enough ripples ...

i quote
"Military contract bungles by President François Hollande’s government have cost France nearly $60 billion, according to a damning report Tuesday from Boulevard Voltaire, a left-leaning newspaper based in Paris. In addition to the $2.2 billion that the failed Mistral deal with Russia is set to cost, another two fumbled contracts with India and Egypt for hundreds of Dassault Rafale fighter jets will see Paris lose an additional $57 billion."

So i was expecting that finally intervention from highest levels would happen and perhaps president Hollande would talk with PM modi and in turn make Dassault also come to some amicable terms to clinch the deal.. the 36 fly away and the MMRCA 90 jets under make in india and perhaps some future follow on orders again in 10-18 flyaway and 53-45 under MII... You could see some more progress besides Rafale deal with other french offerings too (perhaps scorpene follow on too).. So finally Rafale train is changing gears and catching some much needed steam..

Thanks to such articles who spread some panic to do damage repair..

@halloweene @Gabriel92 Guys you hearing more concrete stuff on Indian Rafale ?

126 Rafales are assured, 189 looks likely IMHO.

The MMRCA procurement wasn't started until 2007.
Dude what am I missing about this 126? I thought we said 36 and looking for some US co development on 90. Never read 126 from Parikar. Please enlighten.

. .
its time to put a sock in it. India is not going to buy more than 36. And it will be off the shelf purchase. Rafael orders are getting traction.if it was tough getting any benefits when Dassault had no deals, it'd impossible now.

The new GoI had scrapped the MMRCA entirely pursuing a govt-govt deal entirely. As agreed upon by Modi and Hollande in April 36 will be procured off the shelf from France (as opposed to 18 under the MMRCA) and the MoD has issued a separate RFP for 90 fighters to be built in India in partnership with Dassualt (similar to the Avro replacement deal).

36+90=126

The news about cooperation with the U.S. is 100% BS. There is ZERO chance of the F-16IN or any other previously ejected bidder emerging victorious now- this would be absurd. Think about it logically, now it is almost certain the IAF is getting 36 Rafales does it make sense from a logistics and maintenance point of view to induct such a measly number? No way. Has the IAF ever inducted such a pitifully small quantity of fighters? Why would it do so now it has more money than ever and also more demand than ever?

If you apply common sense it is more than clear what is going on here- the MMRCA in all but name.

If you read Indian comments, it seems France is desperate to sell 36 aircraft. India is not desperate, its a self reliant super power.

Stink of arrogance with bliss of ignorance coupled with jingoistic bravado is a real quality.

There are two sides to this leak. First, that there is an actual move forward on the negotiations and second if there is still a lag in it; pushing the Indian side to compromise on their demands based on the PR generated by strengthening Indian defence.
