Racial attack: Indian killed in Australia

In spite of the regularity of brutal attacks singling out Indian immigrants, the Australian authorities continue to downplay, even deny the racial angle. Unless such crimes are treated as hate crimes and seriously prosecuted and punished, it is likely that the crime wave will continue, and probably get worse.

These attacks are a reminder to all South Asians and others of foreign origins living in the West, including North America, Europe and Australia, that intolerance, racism and xenophobia are alive and well in many parts of the world. Xenophobia, in particular, continues to rear its ugly head in various forms, including antisemitism and Islamophobia. We must condemn it in all its various forms in our own best interest.

Of course the police deny the attacks being racial, WHY WOULD YOU SAY THE ATTACKS ARE BASED ON RACE IF THEY ARE NOT?

I don't see the logic in some you peoples heads. You say these attacks are based on race, and the only evidence you have is your own hear. You make up in your mind that these attacks are raced based and then say it as if it is fact.

I can say these are not race based attacks and i have evidence to back it up. I am not just getting it out of my head. The police have done a thurrow investigation and have said that they are not raced based, therefore thats my evidence.

Now you all provide evidence these are race based or shutup.

An Indian court today convicted two taxi drivers of raping and killing an Australian woman who had come to India four years ago for a meditation course.
Dawn Griggs, 59, was killed soon after hiring a taxi following her arrival at the New Delhi airport in March 2004.

Definitely racist attacks if I believe the logic that this forum flaunts.

Yesterday, her friend Caroline Lloyd said the two killers could have been let off if Ms Griggs's son, Adam Spinner, had not persistently rung authorities in India to ensure justice for his mother, Ms Lloyd said. Mr Spinner found out a number of single, foreign women had gone missing in suspicious circumstances after arriving at the same airport.

He did not let up and continued to pressure police to find the men responsible, she said.

"The police initially covered up the sexual element of the attack and made it seem like robbery was the motive," Ms Lloyd said.

It would appear Indians are just using their police standards as a basis for everyother police force.. How low can you go!!!

No one can answer any of those questions unless they are the police. The police are investigating.

Umm an Australian in Pakistan ? Are you Pakistani flying the Oz banner or an Oz living in Pakistan or a Pakistani who is a wannabe Ozzie? Don't bother answering. Just that your status caught my eye. And you call me "an idiot"
