But here is the deal - it suits the system. The system is built to feed the elites(brass, politicians and main businesses families). Now like all countries it is really the same, the US also feeds its elite and it is essentially the middle class which bear the brunt of the state in terms of taxes and other “charges”. The poor then live off the government’s endowments based upon these taxes and any philanthropy that comes in from the elite. However, the US has a massive middle class that can sustain it.
However, in Pakistan it is even worse - the middle class is barely 5-10% of the population but not only does it bear the majority of taxes, restrictions and other idiotic policies of the Pakistani state/elite , they also have to look after the entire gamut of Pakistani poor who rely on them for everything from running their households to medical expenses. So being the middle class in Pakistan is a nightmare and the elite cannot realize that their focus on making sure their families have plots in DHA or scams in Sindh to buy apartments in London or Dubai is eating away at this middle class which enables that anyway. Whom they expect to be a donkey and quietly work at it - which many do out of having no other choice or being the product of the system. Which is geared to literally keep this ratio going so the elite can feed perpetually in their mind. What these elite pigs dont realize is that in their lack of vision they are happy making the same fixed carving out of the Pakistani camel while they could be making ten-folds if they let the wealth distribute and grow.
So, the city with the most potential is left as a death sentence for all that live in it, who are happy in their toad in a well situation because they have their Sabri nihari ,noorani kabab and burger kings.
