"How many lives China actually saved" we don't know for sure of course, but simply compare it to literally any other country of notable population and the answer is somewhere between many hundreds of thousands to literally millions. and it may have worked even going forward. the latest variants of covid are less deadly than the waves that the us and india experienced and thus even with full reopening its likely the total number of death will be lower.
and off topic, data like suicide rates are tracked, and what the data shows is that chinese suicide rates are decreasing every year since 2004. covid impact is minimum. and of course you don't believe the numbers, but then there's nothing that will ever convince you, anything contrary to your beliefs, you'll just say the numbers are a lie, soi will not even attempt to do so.

Germany reported their 7-day avg peak deaths on 8 Nov at around 171 deaths in the past half year. Even assuming this 7-day avg peak deaths daily for the past half year would result in 171*183 days = ~31K deaths, which would still be significantly lower than your claim of 100K deaths for the past half year.

On a serious note, I do agree that China will see a spike in deaths among the elderly like HK/Taiwan has seen if it opens up. Probably ~1mil deaths within 6months before settling down at a lower rate.

The death rate is only close to the flu for countries which already experienced multiple waves of infections + very high up-to-date vaccination rate among the elderly.

Well, the number of people who infected by Covid is not relevant. It is the number of death that should be take priority. Because even if there are millions of people get infected by Covid, but as long as they have already have antibody to resist the virus, then it's okay. Death is unavoidable. As there are also a lot of death from cancer, diabetic, stroke, heart-stroke, etc. The important matter is to reduce the number of death. By applying vaccine, and conduct research to invent new medicines.

Lockdown is only a temporary measure. Not a prolonged / permanent measure. I think a 2 years lockdown is already too long for that measure to be considered as effective. I already said i agree lockdowns cannot be forever . however chian is opening up now and it may have worked, since as far as we know the latest variants are less deadly and large chunks of the population is vaccinated now, which will provide some protection against death if not sickness vs no vaccination
