Featured Project Azm: Pakistan's Ambitious Quest to Develop 5th Generation Military Technologies.

MMU (Milli Muharip Uçak) - National Fighter Aircraft. This is the official name of the program. The code of the aircraft itself(F-X eg) has not yet been announced.

Pakistani institutions and workforce are certain to participate in the MMU program. There are a number of agreements signed in this area, some of which we have shared in reletad thread, in past.

TAI GM Kotil also stated in an interview with the press at Indo-defense-22 that the established capabilities and workforce in Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia are very valuable, but that there is a risk of especially talented engineers going to different countries due to lack of projects currently, and that business models are being worked on to ensure that this workforce can take part in TAI projects in a way that will allow them to stay in their countries.

TAI has opened engineering offices in all three countries and we will see a number of inter-organizational collaborations, some of which have been finalized. TAI GM Kotil also stated that the number of engineers in the Malaysian and Pakistani offices is around 200 as of October 2022. (source)

TAI's offices abroad:
AMSL - AIRBUS Military Sociedad Limitada: Established in 2002 to prepare and submit proposals for the development, production and sale of the A400M and its derivatives, and to carry out related support activities and technical assistance. TAI's share is 5.60 percent.

TAI GmbH Hamburg (2016) and Toulouse (2018): Component development, production, distribution, manufacturing, fabrication, modification, design, engineering services for aerospace industries. Vertical rudder production, logistics and necessary modification activities for A320/A330/A350 aircraft. TAI's has own 100 percent of company.

TR Research and Technology Limited UK: Established in 2018 to develop the infrastructure to support the engineering design activities of our indigenous platforms and to contribute to the training of qualified workforce. TAI's has own 100 percent of company.

TAI USA, INC. : Founded in 2016 to produce technology by using the knowledge produced with a qualified workforce, to carry out R&D activities, to cooperate with universities and to carry out certification activities for joint projects. TAI's has own 100 percent of company.


TUSAS Malaysia SDN. BHD: Established in 2019 to cooperate with universities and promote products and services. TAI's has own 100 percent of company.

TAI Pakistan Branch: Established in 2020 to strengthen cooperation between the two states, to promote products and services, and to cooperate with all universities, especially The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST).

Turkish Aerospace QFZ LLC: Established in Qatar on April 28, 2022 to strengthen the trade network between the two states, to promote, exhibit and market indigenous products and services, to carry out engineering activities, to cooperate with universities, and to develop and implement joint projects on possible cooperation issues. TAI's has own 100 percent of company.

TAI also has Indonesia Branch. Established with similar purposes. In addition, a technical cooperation agreement was signed with PTDI last week. A branch in Nigeria is also under consideration.

Another initiative of TAI is the trainee engineer program. A program that provides internship opportunities to prospective engineer university students in Europe and the United States, with the offer of a full-time job after university if the student and the institution are satisfied. There are a significant number of career-building projects for engineer candidates who want to take part in major military projects such as fighter jets, unmanned attack systems and attack helicopters. TAI is one of the fastest growing companies in the industry on a global scale in terms of workforce, and this momentum will continue to increase. TAI will double its workforce over the next 10 years.

Long story short; I don't know if officially Pakistan state will be part of this program, but it is clear that Pakistan will support the program in terms of workforce and institutions.

It's just been run more efficiently and realistically

The program is very much dead. The above tweet is absolutely fake news because Temel Kotil is not even visiting IDEAS2022. To add to what @dBSPL is saying there's a strong possibility that Pakistan will buy into the TFX (MMU) program on a small level. But to call it a joint program is disingenuous to say the least.

May I ask do you have access to guest list of ideas 2022? How do you know who is visiting and not visiting??

I mean for person like him, most senior officers in airforce will not have this knowledge...only need to know basis

No I don't have a guest list of ideas 2022 lol. Come on. I don't know who is visiting or not visiting. But I know for a fact that Temel Kotil is not visiting. But I'm just some guy on the internet that you DO NOT have to believe. Absolutely free to ignore me.

I think the hope is for the Turkish engine. So you can imagine the PAF is looking for an NGFA 15 years down the line maybe. TFX Block 30 maybe.

That is true for Indonesia. Basically the engineers are Indonesian Aerospace engineers and will work for TAI project. Indonesian Aerospace will become part of design center for TAI project. The MOU has been signed in Indodefense 2022 and from what Indonesian Aerospace Director stated recently, it goes through and 100 engineers are already prepared for the work

Indonesian Aerospace is also preparing the same work for Boeing. Working for Boeing for Boeing project, but this is still in MOU level

Nothing will happen on the NGAF front wrt PAF for now and won't until India announces plans to acquire the same and even then nothing will be announced until India actually acquires a bunch. That has been the history that keeps repeating itself.

Reasons:
- PAF lacks real resources/funds to support such programs and efforts other than studies and creating some models
- Current funds and resources will continue to focus on J-10 and JF-17 programs
- The most PAF will collaborate with TAI will be on JF17 subsystem components as revealed by the recent contract

As when (and if) India acquires a 5 gen plane, PAF will evaluate options at that time and based on options and financial resources will most likely go with J-35 (if allowed by the Chinese).

I apologise if this is off-topic, but, I love the role Turkiye is playing, leading but collective leadership, taking everyone along, I hope it leads to greater things, beyond the realms of technology.

Technically, saying the PAF has Mig-29s with canards stationed in an underground aviation bunker in Balochistan guarding railguns is something not stated on the forum … but someone could make that claim and now they will have more things than PDF to say
