It'd depend on how much bigger the TFX/MMU is compared to the J-35. It sounds like the J-35 might be a pretty big fighter in its own right and, possibly, have nearly as much range and payload as the TFX Block-1. Remember, the J-35 is an evolution of the FC-31. So, China's been working on this design for nearly a decade and, as a result, the J-35 carries forward lots of key improvements.

The TFX/MMU, on the other hand, will come in hot. The first variant might be on the lighter side and more optimized for the air-to-air role. But a later version will probably be heavier and offer a bigger emphasis on deep-strike, for example.
But induction of both will keep balance of eastern and western fighters for PAF in Future too

And the J-35 is still evolving. It is about to be revealed with 2D TVC nozzles, which must mean the engines have enough thrust to operate from the carrier with a combat load and for added weight not to be reduce the performance significantly.

I think drone is just a test plateform if you read the tittles with the drone videos

There is a TAI office in Pakistan established mainly for MMU engineering works. For those who follow MMU news, these developments are no surprise. Currently, around 100 Pakistani engineers are ready to taking an active role in the MMU project. There are also cooperation protocols signed with both inter-institutional organizations and universities. It is also possible for Pakistani students to do internships within this project. As a state institution, TAI considers Pakistan's aviation industry as one of its priority partner countries. Inshallah, these collaborations will become much more comprehensive and deeper in the coming period.

So the program is not dead as few have been saying.

It's just been run more efficiently and realistically
