Which radar is this (volume search)? afaik, 52C has a type 517 knife rest radar (2D). The pic you uploaded shows a 3D radar. It seems to be some artists work.

I think Type 052D is still missile based Aegis destroyer. However, there is possibility that Type 052E gonna be installed with lasergun and railgun.

Some argue that long-range SAM like HQ-9 & SM-2 are adequate at covering reasonably close-in threats before they enter the range of CIWS. Tico & Burke served nearly two decades with nothing but SM-2 & Phalanx for air defence. And do not underestimate the effectiveness of soft-kill systems like ECM & decoys, they'll spoof far more AShM than CIWS ever would.

The Type 052D gonna be about 9000 tons in full load compared to the 7000 tons of Type 052C.
