President Trump has put Pakistan on notice : US VP Pence

One thing I am still not sure about is where are these supposed safe havens in Pakistan? No one can point them out but they are supposed to exist. It sounds like more fake news from Trump administration and like much of what he says, no one cares much about it (except bharatis ).
They are right next to WMD in Iraq. Just to the left of Peshawar is a highway going to Kandahar airbase. That's where they are

Of course, just like Pakistan is free to decide on what to do, so are the other sovereign nations you mention, to pursue their own respective national interests. In international geopolitics, the better players win, always.
No not always. America played every dirty trick in the book at the UN and lost

excellent reply from foreign office

"noting that Pence's scathing remarks were "at variance with the extensive conversations we [Islamabad] have had with the US administration"

which means that US is trying to deceive us again... that's why I have always opposed these negotiations

foreign office also noted:

Externalising blame should be put on notice," the FO said, in addition to a host of "factors responsible for exponential increase in drug production, expansion of ungoverned spaces, industrial scale corruption, breakdown of governance, and letting Daesh gain a foothold in Afghanistan."

Also reply given at secretary level to US vice president shows were they intend to put this notice
Soon Pakistan will do what north Korea does but NK is not as advanced as us. The fact the air chief said they are putting a man in space shows America we have ICBM technology.

Pakistan is going through a terrible time. Its currency is getting weeker and current account deficit is ballooning. Soon It will have to approch IMF for another bail-out. Guys who are now showing middle finger to Trump will be standing in line at IMF for a loan package to avoid international default.

If you want to stand up to America then at least be self sufficient and stop depending on others for bail-outs
That is not true. Pakistan can manage without defaulting. This fiscal collapse of Pakistan is something oft quoted by certain lobbies to perpetuate the perception that Pakistan is on the edge. Deficit can increase, but internal measures would be taken to tighten the belt if key national security interests are at stake. Pakistan has control over what it can forego and what it cannot. Deficit increases because the economy is opening up and there is tremendous capital borrowing going on. This can be slowed down if push came to shove to bridge the gap in the deficit or lower it. Balance of payments is also another issue that Pakistan manages some how. Pakistan has seen days (more than a decade) of US sanctions when even IMF was not dealing with Pakistan.

The key question for Pakistan is that are some of the national interests worth sticking to and letting Pak-US interests suffer? Its possible. Where Pakistan can reformulate policy, it will as it has repeatedly demonstrated in the past. Where it cannot, it may be willing to take the pain.

An UNGA vote like that is pretty ineffective as a measure to influence anybody's national interests, let alone USA's.

It will be interesting to see what Pakistan decides.

It's a useful tool for the West but no one else.

Others who wish to dominate the UN today and tomorrow have to follow the same basic geopolitical principles to get to that point, just like all those before them.

Self-inflicted on the part of Pakistan. Americans will do what they must after having expended trillions. Its a situation of a sunk-cost investment for them. For Pakistan, the narrative is incoherent. I suspect more Salala like incidents but despite that, the situation on the ground won't change. After 4 more years, Trump will realize that this is not worth it so he will maintain a presence in Afghanistan to play spoiler for the Russians and the Chinese but will discard the idea of nation building.

The Ghani government or its variant will have control of Kabul and its environs and the business will continue alone. The alternate that could be is one where Taliban do come to the table and there are serious talks, but in this atmosphere of threats and blusters and more kinetic actions, that is an impossibility for now.

the situation will not change, there is too much money involved, too much money to be made aby US commanders and CIA in Afghanistan, money goes to Afghanistan something like 4 billion a year, and most of it comes back to US...add that to drug trade and damn its billions over billions to be made by Private contractors, Military officials and CIA. So the blame game will continue for as long as these interests can keep it going.

I agree with you that Pakistan has managed such crisis in the past too. But the damage done to the economy is far greater this time and the worst part is that even the data being reported by State Bank of Pakistan is fudged. It appears that Mr. Dar has done everything possible to bring the Pakistan economy to its knees. SBP is reporting Forex reserves of $14 billion which includes $6 billion swaps from your private banks. Your SBP counts the same $6 billion again with pvt banks to show country's reserves as $20 Billion, which in fact are down to only $14 Billion. In last three weeks Pakistan has paid $1.4 billion as financial charges for servicing the loans. So your total reserves will not last for more than 6-8 months if the current deficit rate persists.

I guess your COAS is aware of this situation and primarily wanted to convey this problem besides other issues, when he held a meeting with your senators.

The biggest problem is that Nawaz Sharif is behaving like a jilted lover who is hell bent to destroy your nation. Only a true leader with power and vision can avert this imminent crisis. And Mr. Abbasi doesn't look that serious in his approach.

No one can do anything as long at 5 have veto.

That can be changed, if there is enough of a geopolitical reason to do so. Besides, UNO came after the League of Nations. Something in the future might replace UNO itself.

I only see change if the entire Muslim world leaves

If there was any leader with an iota of self respect then we wouldn't be seeing
this day. For god sake stop U.S supplies and get out out of this war on terror.

Pakistan also needs to threaten America if they cross the line then Israel will
be wiped off the map.
