ISTANBUL — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has commemorated the Hannukah Day of Turkey's Jewish citizens, a statement released by the Presidency Press Center announced on Monday.

According to the statement, President Erdoğan sent a message to Jewish citizens, wishing them "tranquility, peace, happiness, and well-being".

"I congratulate Hanukkah Day of our Jewish citizens with my most sincere wishes. We see the diversity in our social, cultural, and anthropological being, as the biggest richness which has made Turkey what it is today, and reinforced its unity and cooperation, and enhanced our solidarity and fondness", said Erdoğan in the statement.

"Turkey will continue to carefully protect this rich cultural and historical heritage carefully today, as it has done until now" said the statement.

Hanukkah Day, celebrated by the Jews worldwide for eight days and nights, is celebrated on the 25th day of Jewish month of Kislev, which coincides with late November to late December on the secular calendar.

In Hebrew, Hanukkah means "dedication", as the holiday celebrates the re-dedication of the holy Temple in Jerusalem after the Jewish victory against Seleucid monarchy in 165 B.C.E

You two would have a blast together.

In all seriousness then I just wanted to know your opinion about Erdogan and his somewhat two-faced policy regarding Israel.

Since you are pro-MB and pro-Erdogan. Or am I wrong here? Just be cautious bro and not too naive. Sorry to say it but you only depend on yourself. Unfortunately but that's how it is in this world. I don't think that this Georgian wants the best for Arabs.

Falcon is going to prepare the kebabs at Hanukkah day.

.
It is not two faced. It is business. Palestinians wanted to decide their own faith. We are not bound to them.

Two-faced policy on what? Every nationality depends on itself. But Pan-Arabism is long dead. What we have today is not Pan-Arabism. It is sick/dirty minded people declaring all forms of war against anyone that follows Islam. If Arabs want us to rely on them then they need to support us but they don't. They ask Hamas to not reconcile with Iran but with nothing in return. The people running Arab nations and dangerous for us. You should realize this and wake up.

@Falcon29

You already know my opinions on 99,9% of all Muslim leaders. To hell with them for all I care. I am just saying that you should not be naive on this front. The guy is a obvious hypocrite when it comes to Israel. Let's just say it as it is. This has nothing to do with Arab leadership. Arabs and Muslims in general have not done enough for you Palestinians (at least in recent times), nor the Rohingya in Burma, Kashmiris (the list is almost endless) etc. Hence my comment about you only depending on yourself at the end of the day and mostly the Arab people.

Iran is the same in this regard. All are using Palestine for political gains. It's become really dirty. Some Arabs do the same but only the Arabs are willing to go to war for their brethren. Rest are nothing more than lip service. Proven time and time again.

A well-known Arab hater just thanked your post btw.

This isn't about non-Arabs or related to them. It is about us. We have serious issues in our politics that are irrational. Now there is obvious psychological war/physical war against moderate Islamists which is wrong. Egyptian media for example is crossing so many red lines in attacking moderates and making up so many myths that some people will believe. It's a propaganda war which is being played against all moderate Islamists and unfortunately Palestinian parties are being demonized in process. This is coming from our people. Which involves Egypt, KSA, PA and UAE. I don't agree completely with both sides of equation. Or the Al-Arabiya-Al-Jazeera rivarly. KSA and Qatar should get over childish things like that and they all need to form united stance for all Arabs. Instead they are demonizing huge portions of Arabs and making it seem as if they don't exist. And the people leading is aren't our ordinary citizens who take pride in their culture and faith. It is the wealthy irreligious elite in the Arab world. And they are taking it too far. This isn't politics but crisis in our society that matters.

"We" as in a few unelected leaders. Our generation knows mostly what is going on and what should be done. But so do most Muslims in the Muslim world. Yet we can all see what is going on. Look what's happened today in Pakistan.

When you have people like ISIS etc. earlier Al-Qaeda ruining countries (I know that they are a microscopic minority everywhere yet it only takes a few idiots to light a forest on fire with thousands of trees) and giving us Muslims a very bad reputation, spreading misery etc. there will be repercussions from the people in power and also a large percentage of the people.

Well, I already spoke out against the collective retiredness of Muslim leaders 100's of times. But that's has always been the struggle. On one hand you have fanatics and on the other you have atheist fanatics that would kill you for praying loudly in a mosque (idiom) and who are in many ways just as alien.

Us "average Joe's" that want changes are caught in between those two evils. A large group of those "average Joe's" are easily manipulated.

Given recent history (150 years) foreigners in the Arab world have mostly only proven one thing. That they are not interested in the people but everything else. Study history bro. A lot of the mess is created by former colonial powers, regional etc. Their role in this should not be forgotten or ignored. Hence the only solution being what we have discussed dozens of times and agree on and which the majority of us do but for now can't do much about. But we will. Be sure of this.

Meanwhile Jews in Turkey are protesting anti-semitism and returning to Israel.

I wish being a democrat was as easy as celebrating an important day of minorities for one day, and disrespecting them the rest of the 364 days.

But guess what? No one's buying this.

Returning to Israel? Aren't they Turkish people? More disloyal garbage coming to steal land of my people. If they don't know how to be loyal to their home country they should check out Europe or United States. Not to come on newly built illegal settlements which displace our people.

How does that make it "your" photo? Did you create it? I don't know what you are posting here. Not following your every trail.

It only takes this very short step. Go to Google and then write "Erdogan Israel gif" and then it will be present on the first page.

I found another very good photo while I repeated my Google search.
