3. Babur-II GLCM (unlikely, too less landmass involved)
4. Babur-III SLCM (unlikely, too soon for a new test launch)
5. Babur-? (ship-launched variant??)

If it is a ship launched variant of Babur then which ship would be used?

I quoted MODP website last week on one of the threads about a ship launched missile in development for anti-land and anti-shipping. Here it is again!

"Contract for the indigenous development of 1 ship-borne system with 1 Land Attack Missile and 1 Anti ship Missile. The project will complete by Oct 2018."

This test could be part of this program, maybe they're in the testing phase.

To me, There are two possibilities.

Zarb Missile (LACM)
New Ship borne Missile. (Type is unknown)

We have been trying to fit our Babur into those C-802 tubes on board our F-22p Zulfiquar Class frigates. May be that have been accomplished.
I will be more happy if it is some AShW weapon, land or ship based. Our surface fleet is not adequate to carry LACMs (with no proper air cover) and it will be more about power projection rather than having significant tactical value.

Right guys, made a few phone calls, only so much information could be disclosed for now.
It's a brand new totally indigenous land based anti-ship missile.....so it's not any Chinese system being test fired. :pakistan:
PN need missile which must be fast (Mach 2-3), low-altitude, and stealthy. Missile should be extremely versatile, capable of being carried by surface ships, land-based anti-ship missile batteries and our Jets. Range anything above 200 Km and capable to deliver a 500 pound warhead.

Yup! That is the other thing that is possible. When i was mentioning the efforts to fit the Babur into those C-802 tubes on board our F22p frigates, i though about but then decided not to mention another parallel effort. One to fit missile (Babur) with active seeker and use it in a land based AShW role. There were some initial level, on paper plans about a new motor as well to give it more speed and a second Supersonic terminal stage but that was something that I do not expect to have been achieved in such short period. (still, you never know how the forces can come out and surprise you)

As said, it is best to wait and see what happens. I will be much more pleased, as I said above, if it is a land based AShW missile rather than a ship borne LACM.
