The ship size decides the SAM size they could bring, the radar decides how far they ship could detect incoming target.

The type 52d has anti~missile defenses ranging from anti~missile hy90, type1150, jammer, chaff and the AESA could detect, track and guide hq61 to intercept missiles at medium range.

Not neccessary. Su-22 is not as widely exported as Mig-21 or Mig-23 , meaning low other sources of supplier besides Russia. And what I know most of the upgrade available is mostly on avionics. Airframe if not upgraded will have very low in service time due to higher chance of breakup in the air. Or not able to pull the required G in case of avoiding anti-aircraft fire or SAM. The result will be disaster.

During desert storm 1991 few Oliver hazard Perry frigates were hit by exocet missiles launched from Iraqi's mirage f1s. There was once an aircraft carrier almost hit by exocet when the cruisers and destroyers failed to intercept. A British ship saved the carrier as they knew how to defeat the missile. British forced french to tell them the secret during Falklands war after frustrated with exocets deadly attacks on British fleet.

Your data already proven Su-22 produces lesser and serve in lesser countries than others. Seriously, you think sourcing parts and upgrade will be easier compare to Mig-21 and Mig-27? Wouldnt that proves my point?

The carrier case was the hottest topic at that time, the British bragged proudly after saving the US carrier. If the British vessel wasn't there, that carrier would take serious damage and very high casualties as the exocet would punched through its lower side hull at supersonic speed.
