What's new

PLAN’s Xia submarine to Pakistan?

we cannot export this submarine.

You can always lease them at throw away prices...can't you???

however, a very important briefcase filled with some very important documents may become missing in pakistan if the need for a nuclear submarine by pakistan ever came up.
Cut the crap...

Pakistan Navy is already planning to buy 7 subs from west. And there is alot of fuss about Pakistan navy collaborating with china on the matter of submarines.Defence budget already 10 billion$ will increase 40 + % in mid of this year.N.Subs cant be exported only leased.......

There are few points to make

- As of now PN is seriously lacking in conventional strength viz-a-viz IN
- A vessel of Arihant Class costed around $2.3 Billion...
- Decades of effort has resulted in first indegenous nuclear capable submarine
- Sagarika(missile to power Arihant) started in 1991...and first confirmation to Public was in 1998

Now please tell me would it be logical to spend limited resources on items that add little value in the status quo or instead spend those resources wisely to achieve somewhat parity with IN in conventional terms first??? As per me submarines like Arihant are luxury for PN given its doctorine(deny enemy blockade)...

When india launched arihant n.sub Pakistans Naval chief said we can build a sub if we are ordered to..........

Yes your Naval Chief said they can build if they are asked for...However do they need it??? I am not even questioning the capabilities(surely there are very legitimate questions on that)..

So maybe Pakistan wants to collaborate with China to make there own N.sub?Id like to see others opinions.Peace

As long as you are aware of the time frame that is required to build such a vessel and the money involved...

here i have to agree with deckin that N sub is not our requirement.Neither it is our requirement nor we have the money to build it.Besides when you can get something more quiet why go for the noisy one even when your enemy is not far away.

sorry i m not an expert but what the hell n sub and AC have to do for defending 1000km coastline????

please try to be realistic... i think PN should go for more diesel conventional sub atleast should have 10, even if they have to cut the budget for the planned procurements of frigates... remember we don't need to conquer the whole world we just have to defend our economic coastal routes.

Exactly..this is what i am saying...PN doctorine is to deny blockade by IN at the time of war...You do not need AC or Nuclear Submarines for that...However if your doctorine has changed and PN wants to be a true blue water navy(Something that IN wants badly) then i can understand going after such expensive items...

Don't worry brother, China is smart and will definitely help Pakistan to build its SSBN strike force in a subtle manner.

Just wait for another decade when China has surpassed USA in GDP, then we can build both nuclear and conventional force that is comparable to US. And we can openly support anyone who is friendly to China. :china:

Best of Luck:china::pakistan:

meh xias are old, 30 yrs old now, and it was china first attempt so not everything went right and it had to under go extensive maintenance and has most likely never left chinese waters, and one was even lost. after the maintenance(radar, paint, new tiles etc) it was better but still im glad they are retiring it and getting the type 94's which are far better which will be a credible deterrence against far away targets, but i suppose as a minimum deterrence it might work but i dont think Pakistan should go for the xia.

Wasnt Han class the first chinese nuclear sub
And yeah , as far as pakistan is concerned , i dont think that they can afford a nuclear sub at present time , however when there economy improves and gdp rises to arround 500 billion$ ,then they can think about getting one , nuclear subs are neccesary to mentain second strike capability as well as launching long range conventional cruise missiles ,however they cost a bundle let me explain this by giving our own example
Indian navy is currently purchasing 10 subs
6 scorpene diesel electric subs at the cost of 3.8 billion$ ie 640 mil $ each
3 arihant class nuclear subs at the cost of 2.9 billion$ ie 934 mil $ each
1-2 akula II Class nuclear attack subs at the cost of 650 mil each for a period of 10 yrs lease . the main object of purchase of this sub was to give indian sailors training in operating nuclear subs as well as providing escorts to an indian carrier battle group or Arihant class SLBN , Another reason being to prevent a fall in no of subs below the strategic min of 14 subs

7 submarines is wat PN want.....
They can easily go for 1 lease nuclear sub also.
It isnt a rocket science nor are we sri lanka

If arihand class cost N sub cost 950Million

then i think Pn can buy atleast one N sub

and Scorpene class sub price is 300mn and u-214 350 Million$

and marlin class is expected to cost more then 500Millio because paksitan has to fund the project and it share some tech of french barracoda N sub

Han was the first nuclear sub for china the xia is the first SSBN for china.

and yes these things very expensive

hoho
Any military news about PLA from Taiwanese can be treat as rubbish.

JL-2 failed at least 3 times in previous experiments during the development, this is not a secrest even in Chinese bbs.
But it succeeded at last, X years ago. (sorry I can't tell you the exact X now, no need to explain:) )

Fail in development is not amazing, the biggiest difference of the China and India about military is that we Chinese can complete a work without any drumbeating, whether fail or success.

This is very true, JL-2 had a very rough childhood and early teenage life:argh:

I don't think purchasing Xia is a wise act, since it is very obsolete to start with, and only one was built (suggests the lack of interest and faith from PLAN command even in the 70s). If Pakistan is really in need of one, we can always lend a 094 over for training purpose.

With China as a friend of Pakistan, there is nothing expensive... China is like big brother who takes care of his little brother from bullies like India, and if needed can interfere and kick bullies *** too...

Sorry to say my friend your big brother was no where in sight when bullies were / are kicking your arse .. :D
