Sino-Japanese war

in the middle and later stages of the war (after 1939) when the Japanese advanced to Central China, the Nationalists were very effective at fighting the Japanese. For instance, the Chinese fought the Japanese to a stalemate in Shangsha in 3 major battles (the battles of Changsha) in the span of 4 years (1939-1942). Note that this was NOT some guerilla fighting involving a company or two, but huge fighting involving army groups that totaled in close to half million troops from both sides in each one of these battles.

Further, the Chinese fought Japan on a second front in Burma and India. Nationalists sent the Chinese Expeditionary Forces to Burma/ India in 1942 and fought the Japanese in Southeastern China in 2 campaigns for 3 years 'til the end of the war. This was also large battles between army groups. China and Allied forces (mainly British colonial forces) lost badly in the 1st campaign. However, Chinese forces alone came back and defeated the Japanese thoroughly and effectively in the second campaign. The Chinese forces were able to push Japanese almost completely out of Burma in 1944/45.

You mean that you lost 10 Million men just trying to kill 39% of Japs = about 450,000? That is a one to 20 ratio in which the Army's hide got taken. You really think that you still won? 1 : 20. Whoof.

the ratio of USSR was also not that great,but history only remembers the final victor.

Because well versed people know about Stalingrad and Russians fighting spirit. How The country which was beaten by Vietnam could claim that they are final victors of WW-2

So basically you mean that the Communist party will just keep sending men to die to win no matter how many soldiers die? That is very demanding. Do the communist party members also have their children in the PLA as soldiers or are they all in Shanghai hotels or in Casinos in Macau with Cash?

My other chinese friends tell me that war is not about the final victor. It is to learn so that the wars can be stopped in future and so that so many men, women and children do not lose their lives. May be for you it is easy to say because it is good income for you on the internet. But you must be more serious and learn from your elders.

It is clear that USSR also probably did not care for its soldiers and its peasants and that is why USSR was broken up. Do you think that if the communist party also thinks the same then China could also be broken up in the friendly provinces?

Chinese MPs execute Japanese war criminals after WW2

and China held thousands of Japanese POWs after the war,instead of seeking revenge,Chinese government was very nice to those Japanese POWs.China showed to the world what a civilized country should do to enemies who laid down their arms.

Japan was defeated by China,their top military leaders were executed by Chinese MPs,their troops were herded into POW concentration camps all across China.China was the winner of war.Inidans just dont read and dont even have this basic knowledge in the world history,how pathetic.

we won 4 wars against pakistan but we don't always rant about our past victories!!!

once you are defeated,you are at the mercy of your enemy,China showed to world that we are a very forgiving nation,by the end of 60s and early 70s,China almost send all Japanese POWs back to Japan and raised all Japanese war orphans.

Ran's experience was not unique. Thousands of Japanese orphans were left behind in China at the end of World War II. While some of them were offspring of Japanese soldiers, most of them came from families that were organized by the Japanese imperialist government to migrate to northeast China.

Gambit posted a very interesting reply to such claims in another thread. Just accepting the surrender of an adversary, after that nation has been beaten into pulp, is not the same as defeating or overwhelming an enemy yourself. I am not an expert on Chinese-Vietnamese relationship, but Japan was surely not defeated by the Chinese in World War II...more like dismantled by the unstoppable Juggernaut that was the American military.
