PLA Navy aims to control Indian Ocean: National Interest

.
So China decides to take on India I think Pakistan should allow two nuclear and two destroyers to be placed at our Naval bases

.
Maybe India is going to attack Pakistan if Chinese submarine allow to dock at Pakistan? :P

Nonsense we respect the special relation ship which China has with Pakistan & will never do that

i doubt that can happen...it has very huge geo-political consequences...however nothing wrong in making sweeping statements :)

Nice hospitality, thanks bro. The plans are progressing steadily:

Dual purpose facilities

If incidents occur on subcontinent (though the opportunity is vague), PLA or PLAAF could only respond from the land direction i.e. mostly from the N, NE, NW, therefore establishment in IOR are important to reinforce the whole response by supporting PLAN's SSGN and like type 055/052 to maintain operation within cruise missile distance from the coasts.

Why do Pakistanis always rent out their country to others?

By 2025 expect PLAN to have around the following:

4 carriers
6 Type-052C destoyer
12 Type-052D destroyer
8 Type-055 cruiser
12 Type-95 SSN

IN will have no chance if the Chinese even send half this fleet to IOR.

But then, they will have to cross strait of Malacca.

US Navy destroyed the more experienced Japanese Navy in WW2. Experience is over-rated. 10 years is plenty of time for China to master the fundamentals of carrier warfare.

China has taken the hull of the Varyag and completely refurbished it, including fitting its own engines. They are using the knowledge from this to build more carriers. It is a gradual step and soon they will be building a completely indigenous design. They have much more experience building ships in general than India does and so building large carriers wont be too much of a problem for the Chinese.

Fair enough.

Several Type-55 cruisers could hold over 1000 medium and long-range SAMs, while guiding over a hundred missiles simultaneously to their targets. The Chinese are constructing a formidable protection force for their carriers.

Let us wait another 10-15 years and all will be revealed.

The american war machine was far bigger than Japanese ones.

Japan built 15 aircraft carriers during war, US bult more than 100.

The difference is not that big when it comes to China and India.

Then there is strait of mallaca.

Then there is Andman and Nikobar islands.

And China does not have naval bases, not on scale and size of US Naval bases in near India.

Use your deducing skills.

Since WWII, world' industrial picture has changed a lot. By now shipbuilding is one of the many industries China lead globally.

In 2012, China produced 67 million GT of ships (civilian ships, warships figures not included) that 45% of world total

Shipbuilding being a heavy industry has long value chain and hence significant influence on the tech and development of other industries. Say in crude steel industry, China produced 779 million tons in 2013, that's 48.5% of world total, well ahead of EU (165 million tons), Japan (110 million tons) and USA (87 million tons),

These figures show that PLAN's development only take up a relatively very small fraction of China's total industrial capability, even with at an increased speed of expansion during the peace time. These capabilities are more important than say consumer spend data in case of war time (e,g, during WWII, US out-build Imperial Japan, Nazi Germany, or any countires in all armaments).

In terms of being war machine, the drastic disparity between China and India is even more severe than in economic indicators like GDP (5:1) or forex reserve (13:1).

If the 3 CBG's are kept around the Indian ocean, than I can see your point, each CBG (although different than the CBG's in the USN) will provide significant fire power. However, with India's growing aspirations to be a bigger power and to be able to project force outside of the Indian ocean, how would these 3 CBG's be deployed?

Also, to be frank here, the French navy is probably a comparison to the IN today. In the next ten years, IN and PLAN will grow to a degree where the French navy would look like a small regional force. There is no comparison to the growth potential between the Indian Navy and the Chinese Navy, compared to the French. USN as always, will remain ahead of everyone else for the next 3-4 decades to come (and potentially more).

I like your post, very useful details. Is there a way you could provide a list of basic comparison between the Indian and the Chinese navies?
@DJ Crudept - would you have this detail available? I'd like to see the difference between the two.
What aAmaze me the PLANs production rate like 3 ships in one day :o:
And 18 Aegis destroyers
25 new gen. frigates
56 LCS
And 60+ subs
And look at our navy :(
In India ocean, the conflict is between China and India, US has no need to be involve. Asians should deal with their own issues.

It will only be USN THAT RULE ASIAN WATERS.
True :-)
( o land of free and brave people :p:)

I agree with shortgunner here. The thing is today the PLAN still has a significant lead over the IN, in the coming years/decades it will only get bigger. Since China has a wayyyyy bigger industrial base/shipbuilding capabilities compared to India, they can build at a much more faster rate than India can. In event of conflict, they can easily out build India without much effort. So in this case, industrial might counts more than anything else. So if anything, the gap will get bigger this coming decade. However, I don't think there will be any conflict between these two, the PLAN sees the US and Japan as its main enemies/rivals, it can still solve its issues with India since Chinese don't have much hatred/apprehension towards India the way they do with Japan. I believe India and China can come to an understanding much easier than china can with Japan since their differences/hatred runs very deep.

So in short, the PLAN is still ahead of India and it will be even more so in future, but India does have an advantage since its closer to Indian ocean, and the PLAN will naturally keep trying to have a presence in IOR but it will be mainly geared towards the U.S than India.Anyway we will have to just wait and see how things unfold.

Funny how Bangladeshis are rooting for China. What they don't rezlie is when China dams the Brahmaputra, guess who will suffer more down stream?
About dam in Brahmaputra.
The river gets most waters from rain catchment areas in Assam and Arunachal.

PLAN should first think of controlling Pacific, then think about Indian Ocean .
