PLA 20 Years Behind U.S. Military: Chinese DM

China is still decades away from being able to fight a war effectively as the US did during the 1991 Gulf War. But then again Iraq at that time doesn't have nearly 500 4th gen fighters, nor does Iraq has many S-300 batteries like China nor does Iraq has a large navy like China as well as hundreds of accurate ballistic missiles like China.
Difference here is that the Americans gained a great deal more of real -- not virtual -- combat knowledge while China gained nothing from the same. Exploitation of that knowledge will trump any '4th gen' fighters China can field. Same for the rest of the weapons you cited.

Your post just show that China's military is more comparable to that of Iraq in 1991 than that of the US today.

And yet with all the US combat knowledge/experience they ran out of your little country Vietnam with their tails behind their legs, kicked out of North Korea by peasants, and still fighting the endless "war on terrorism" in the Middle East for what is now a decade?

If the US can't take China then, how can they take China now? and do you think US will come rescue your homeland Vietnam when China decides to "liberate" it?

:pop:

What the US learned from fighting a poorly armed and poorly trained enemy like Iraq would have been negligible. Face it, the combat knowledge that the US would have gained from fighting Iraq would be useless against a much more sophisticated and larger enemy like China. And do not forget the Iraqis did not even have a proper Navy. Any future conflict between China and the US is likely to have a very high naval component to it. Now if the US had fought a war with France in 1991, then the situation would be different.

Spoken like a true greenhorn. Operational experience is invaluable, and the fact you don't recognise that shows you to be inexperienced.

Our navy at this very stage is out of your reach. We're doing quite fine. The government has been trying to slow the economy down for several years, so

USSR collapsed due to its command economy not able to respond to domestic demands and overspending on military. China has one of the most open capitalist market on earth and spend less than 2% of its GDP on defence.

Ignorant post.

The Chinese government has been trying to slow down economic growth for the past 5 years. To say that we don't want to slow down is stupid. Actually, the easiest way to test our military is against Vietnam, first for stealing oil, then for being pricks.

You will lose.

The USSR was spending around 12-14% of it's GDP on defence. That is the reason why it became so powerful militarily despite the fact that it's GDP size was only a little larger than the former West Germany. China with around 2% of GDP on defence is not going to suffer the same fate and it could increase this to 3-4% without any real adverse effect on it's economy.

You should understand one thing: even Chinese can not stand your Gov, so how could we stand ?? We are independece country, but your gov try to make Vn become China satellite, same like N.korea or Myanmar, we could not accept that.

Same with Chinese in Tieanmen square, same thinking bro .^^

please, speaking your own opinions is fine but don't dare to speak for the chinese people.

He probably believe he can build a house just from looking at the real estate sales brochures.

Please explain just what exactly the US would have learned from fighting a low tech, low trained military like the Iraqis in 1991. Let us see the Iraqis, had a few dozen downgraded Mig-29s and their T-72s were export versions. Facing these were literally hundreds of the latest F-15s and F-16s backed up by AWACSs. Also the US army had much superior Abrams tanks. Not much would have been learned as the US would not really have ever got into real difficulties on the battlefield.

A good analogy would be a great boxer only really gets better by fighting another great boxer. He does not increase his skill much by fighting lowly-skilled boxers.

The Yankee are gradually dragging their legs out of the Middle East, move their focus on East Asia and the West Pacific Rim again.
There would be many interesting gonna to happen then.

P/S: There are somehow that I can delete my own post?

It's a world of pragmatists nowadays you guy. You love someone as long as he bring you more money, more development, more opportunity... Who care about death-men anymore?

" China will likely emerge as the new world superpower... Over the next 40 years, the number of well-trained Chinese with IQs over 120 will outnumber their American counterparts by about eight to one. The upshot is that the gap in the potential for innovation and economic growth between China and the U.S. will grow enormously and begin to have its effects in the very near future. ”

Chinese dont say the same thing, think in the same way now, plus there are 1.3 billion Chinese. Ordinary people are not supposed to LOVE their gov IMHO.
