Apparently there was a classified project called Santa Barbara.

During the Marcos Era, a new missile, called Bongbong-1, was built. It was said to have a range of 12KM (LOL, too small) and was built with German scientists. These rockets were tested between 1972 and 1980's. (During that time, China was still testing the DF-3 and DF-4 and DF-5)

And due to rising tensions with China, there is some proposal to resurrect the project (NOTE: 12KM is not far enough to touch any countries

Hope so, PH Army and Navy urgently need rockets and missiles.

anyway, a rocket with a range of only 12 km is too short and ineffective to be used against another ship. Most modern naval ship guns, OTO Melara for example, has a range of 16 km for its HE standard round, and 20 for its SAPOMER round. Your ship could be in danger of these guns before even your rocket could reach the enemy ships. And rocket is not missile, to be a missile, a rocket must have radar homing, targeting system, guidance system, and flight system, other than those, a rocket with warhead will be just as effective as blind bomb.

Most anti ship missiles have range of more than 100 km, a 16 km rocket is effective enough to be used as conventional MRLS.

Anyway come on guys the project ended a decade ago its dead horse stop betting it already. It was a time when the Philippines wanted to make Nuclear weapons but that bid was cancel by President Aquino (The Mother of Current President Aquino) for one draining the National treasury, Political and lawful (the Current Constitution forbids the Use and keeping of Nuclear weapons in the Philippines) And many other reasons and for you info chinko Imperials it was advance for its day it was design by the greatest Filipino minds in the fields of Science and Aerospace Engineering and with help from German engineers and scientist (back then we have great Industries to support things like this sadly not anymore though) So please its dead Santa Barbara project is done just in the dustbins of history.

Although some are calling for the Activation of the Project for both Military and Civilian but again no politico seems to interested to do so.

Wow just wow one yes we are its no secret everybody knows and two there are improvements like the Improvement of current bases two buying of basic gear three buying of new weapons like 12 FA50's and the new Incheon Class plus other weapons and systems from Korea Radars and other Air defenses from America And new Alenia C27J and other Equipment from Italy, Embraer EMB 314 Super Tucanos (contract is still being negotiated) and many more plus the aid were getting from our friends and allies especially guys you manage to pi$$ off has been very helpful to our modernization efforts but its still a long way to go the Point is sir chinko is that the philippines is more focus on important things like keep the Economic boom and the Infrastructure, Educational other basic needs of the people the Military and the police is only bottom of the top priority list but its still a priority but the people come first something you chinko imperials will never understand.

Well, Philippines was not prepare to face with China like now at first place.
_ Philippine politician thinks they can stand on same place and thought with Chinese in SCS and get benefits that China would share to Philippine.
_ But they're wrong. Chinese leader want everything in place that they can control and have all right on it. They want hold the "cause" on their side, so their people would accept and follow them. It'll help them hold China on communist road until everything's stabilize.
