What's new

PEW research. Majority of population favours Sharia Law.

Are you saying that sharia is incompatible with democracy?

That's not what I'm saying.
If you're asking then I wouldn't be able to tell you, I don't know much about Sharia Law.
For the sake of argument let's suppose it is incompatible with democracy. Then?

I don't know much about Sharia Law but if Sharia law is what Taliban, ISIS, Saudi Arabia and Al Qaeda follows then such Sharia law should be thrown into the trash can.

But if Sharia law is like Malaysian and Dubai and Qatar model then muslim countries are free to follow them.

Is Buddhism what is being practised in Burma by burning Muslims alive, we all thought Buddhism doesn't allow the harming of insects so where burning children is coming from? Point is there are good educated Muslims and people who are deluded. Sharia law does not allow harming of innocent people, gives women rights, animal rights, parent rights etc. It gives the balance in a society. Just like any law has limits, sharia law also has limits.

And yet you know to oppose its effective implementation in Pakistan?

I'm opposed to any idea that's justification is simply "oh the majority wants it"

May I suggest learning something about it first before any further discussion?
It seems you're quite educated on the subject, this is where I'm doing my learning.

Let's start with whether you recognize the following:

What of it? btw it helps if you answer a question instead of asking a new one in response.

Start putting the crazy mullahs in jail even execution's for the hateful ones, crush their organization and show a commitment to never use religion for politics international or national

This'll die on its own, people are idiots

If you do enough good propaganda, this same populace will accept anything from monarchy to communism, general public is mostly made up of idiotic herd

But its the job of the intellectual class, existing power structure to know what's best for the country and guide them there

This is what a republic is, you elect leaders who are suppose to be the best men among the populace and their job is TO DO WHAT THEY FEEL IS THE RIGHT THING FOR THE COUNTRY, they are supposed to be the guiding

cause if it doesn't work that why, there's no reason for a leader

just put everything to vote with internet

We want to fire nuclear?- put it to the vote - if population is too angry they'll say yeah but leader is supposed to be the guiding hand in that situation

The above is incompatible with the below:
We want to fire nuclear?- put it to the vote - if population is too angry they'll say yeah

but leader is supposed to be the guiding hand in that situation- he is supposed to make the sane decision

whatever it is

that's why putting everything to vote is idiotic, world shouldn't and cant work that way

And what if the said leader wants to "fire nuclear"?

So the leader is elected by vote? Then it is incompatible with this:
Putting every decision to vote is idiotic

voting in a leader is not, he is supposed to deal with the decisions part, not regular people

of course almost every country has an establishment that stops the some very OTT leaders from coming to power, its a check on people power going way too haywire

So you want to put your trust in this invisible unaccountable "establishment"?

As checks yes (not micromanaging), every country has, its natural and they only gain power because its needed for stability of a country and represents the core interests of a country
